Get to see Michio play tomorrow night!!!

Yes yes, he actually lives and performs regularly about 20 miles away from me! His live playing gives me a warm tingly feeling My wife is a make-up artist at the theater in Darmstadt where he plays and wants to take me back to the cafeteria where he hangs out with his girlfriend (also a performer) before the show.

What the hell do you say to somebody like him? "So you play too, huh?" I'm nervous. I'd be very cool if it clicked personally, though...

John

Not sure how big he is internationally, but he's brought out a couple of good albums, one recorded with the Gerardo Nunez trio in Madrid, and composed music for the theater piece "The House of Bernarda Alba" by Federico Garcia Lorca.

I heard a track from a friend, remembered the name all i had to do was do a search on "Michio flamenco" on google u get about 20 websites that sell it very easy.

Finding unknown guitarists that i like, is one of my favourite things to do on the net.

Why are you looking to buy a copy and having trouble finding a website that sells it ?

RE: Get to see Michio play tomorrow ... (in reply to John O.

This was most definitely one of the best flamenco concerts I've been to in a long long time. I can't believe this guy hasn't made it big yet. His style is less virtuous (not to say he's not an amazing player), more poetic, there are some very beautiful ideas in his pieces.

Also the other musicians were great and the dancer was phenominal. The singer was simply amazing. She sang a Siguiriya which put me completely in a trance.

I play a guitar from the same builder as Michio (Wolfgang Suttner) who was there as well and set it up so I could meet him, we all went out to a little café. It took a long while for Michio to get there and unfortunately there was just time to say "Hello, great show". Just as he sat down we stood up and I said "Just wanted to say hi", and he laughed. Very nice guy he is, I wish I'd had more time to talk to him. Hopefully his next concert will be on a Friday or Saturday, I'd love to drink a beer with him...

I cant belive u left when he came to sitt.
I would have been there all night.
Why did u have to go ?

I wanna know everything next time u see him, i am a HUGE HUGE fan, i probably played his cd more than almost everyother guitarst i have , and i have all of them.

and tell him that I talk his cd to everyone i meet. Ask him his favourite guitarist, my gues is Vicente, but i wanna hear what he says.

Ask him if hes working on a second album.

Are you gonna remember all this ?

I really wanted to talk to him, but I had to wake up at 6:30 this morning and it was already midnight. I'm beat today as it is... There'll be more chances, it's not like he's so far away.

I'll make sure to ask/tell him all that for ya. Hope I don't make you jealous with this: I've written him an email and asked if he teaches Vicente was exactly what I thought, and let me tell you he produces an ambience in concert you cannot possibly fathom when listening to the album..

I'll let you know when I find anything out!

To be honest I haven't checked it out yet, I'm still into his new one.

Yeah, we have a bit of luck here so close to Spain, although you don't necessarily have to be so close to meet the big flamenco masters if you're good enough (Ricardo...). And the world is so small - Michio knows Gerardo Nunez personally and introduced him to the guitar builder I know so well. Could be some day I'll get the chance to shake the guy's hand...

My streched fantasy is putting pieces together. Doitsujin... lives in the same area Michio used to, takes over accompanying for him in the area, I've never heard an upload from him, taking such an interest in how Michio's album gets around, the internet tag could be interpreted as some sort of Asian name... Doitsujin, you're Michio in diguise! Trying to mingle amongst us struggling guitarists without being recognized!!!

Wahahha.... you are funny guys. pff...

No Im not Michio! Please trust me. Hes just a good friend. And I do proxy playing for him. Thats all. The thing with the lenguage has nothing to do with Michio. I knew the lenguage before I met him for the first time.

Hey John! I uploaded the Pedro Sierra falseta in past played by me for fun a bit crappy. As you could hear there, Im more an arcade player who prefer to play more showing off redneck style than soft nice tones!!hehe Michio plays more with poetry like compositions and melodies. Very good and wonderfull but he plays very different than me.

P.S. Forget Michios first album. It doesnt represents his actual playing. Its with 90% rumbas... tsts everybody starts as a small germ before growing up..... His second album is much better.
