There used to be such a thing as a "MundoBeat" metronome... a metronome box specifically designed for Flamenco Compas. However, it has long since been out of production, and as far as I know, nothing has come along to take its place.
Apparently, you can programme some regular digital metronomes to accommodate Flamenco compas.
But my teacher recommended a better alternative, which is to buy a programmable drum machine. this way you have more control and can choose different tones for each accent.
I don't actually own one yet as they can be quite expensive. But I would recommend the BOSS DR BEAT series drum machines, as they are excellent quality and available in a variety of models from the fairly simple, basic models (which are cheaper) to the complex professional models, which are very expensive.

Hope this helps, and good luck!!!

Check Ron M. site. He's posting here a lot.
He's "spamming" his flamencomaster. Wonderful tool.
You can also google for flamencomaster.

quote:

The Mundobeat is going back into production - the latest I heard is the it will ship end of Feb.

I would not put a downpayent though - wait till its actually shipping before plunking your $$ down.

I paid for it in September and the ship date keeps getting pushed back every month. Gettign a bit worried if the thing will ever ship!

I think many of us were told something similar to this. And a long time ago. I would also be cautious about paying for one before they are actually ready to be dispatched. It is not clear whether they ever will be.

PS: does anyone know if the MundoBeat metronome has a new website? or whats the old web address? thanks.

thanks folks for saving me a bob or two. I have found those electronic metronomes too quite. By the the way won a case of wine, and other odds and ends plus a diploma for taking part in the Amenacar local Flamenco showcase.
Cheers

I like that idea, Doitsujin. What are you recording exactly? A track with palmas, etc? Any details would be most appreciated.

Yes for example the solo compas CDs. Or I loop a palmas compas by myself and record it 10minutes. Florian had great loops in past.
Or I make a percussion-compas how I like it in guitarpro and loop it.
The only important thing is that there is only percussion with no guitar.

RE: flamenco metranome (in reply to Doitsujin

I emailed the MundoBeat maker and heres what he replied to me:

"When I first went back into production, I made my estimate of ship date based on the lead time of the longest lead part.

SPeicifcally the Rotary encoder, which takes 16 weeks to get once its ordered.

I added a week or two for assembly and announced that we where back in bussines. The factory of course has updated me based on whatever slow downs or unforseen problems in getting all the parts together. The most recent estimate I have for final completion, is end of February to very early MArch at the absolute latest.

This isnt to say that some wierd thing may happen and it will be delayed but I am confident in the last estimate. Nearly all the parts are now in the factory and when I spoke with them last week they where still on track for an end of February 2006

I hope this helps. Believe me its frustrating for me as well, but we are making them, we have most things in order, and will ship no later than early March altough its my hope and great possebility that we should be shipping IN february.
