Viaje Andalúz

Just been watching this documentary from the BBC: must be one of the best ever made. Sadly many of the artists are now dead, but this is flamenco de verdad.

I was inspired to see it because the other day I met Rancapino in the street. We repaired to a bar and he sent someone for a guitar. I accompanied him por fandangos, malagueñas y seguiriyas; the seguiriyas was incredible.

When my great friend and great cantaor José Millán died in 2008, I stored my guitar in a wardrobe and have not played flamenco since. To accompany Ranca with a beater guitar after 6 years was emocionante.

He thinks the same as me: el cante necesita una guitarra, pero una guitarra sola es una huéfana.

Felices fiestas a todos.

Is there a link to the documentary anywhere out there?

Hi Ed: I have never seen a link. I copied it many years ago from the live BBC broadcast onto video and subsequently to DVD.

The cante needs a guitar, but a solo guitar is an orphan.

Have I got that right? Its true anyway.
