Ian Davies: Transcriptions found

Several times in the past the great guitarist Ian Davies (passed away in 2003) was a subject here. I´ve found a website containing a page incl. some interesting biographical info and all 4 volumes of "Flamenco Tradicional" in PDF and MP3 totally free of charge. Just scroll far down:
http://www.southendflamenco.co.uk/pages/ian_davies.htm

I also found the following page. If you search this list for "flamenco", you´ll find lots of flamenco performers. Ian Davies is listed, too, with his guitar solo LP "por los cuatro costaos" which I have as an original Music Cassette. The list is an mp3 list but I cannot find any links to titels. Maybe some of you may find downloads or an order page:

Saludos
Bernd

Great finding, thanks so much for sharing! Pity he only published 4 volumes.

On the first link there is also an interview made by Paul Magnussen, a member here.

RE: Ian Davies: Transcriptions found (in reply to bernd

I had the pleasure of meeting Ian in London, when he played his Archángel for me. I was looking to buy a flamenco guitar and finding nothing I liked (except for the Archángel!) . Some years later he came to the Belfast Arts Festival, where he played a show with Beatriz, another dancer, a mediocre cantaor and MAROTE.

Although he played a great sevillanas with Beatriz on castañuelas, my attention was riveted on Marote.

After this experience, my friend John and I formed the Peña Flamenca de Irlanda del Norte, which became the meeting point for any Spaniards passing through, with meetings every month, with guitar and baile. I believe it still exists.

Has anybody his LP "Por los cuatro costaos" as MP3? I´d really like to have it because I don´t have a cassette player, so it would be nice.

You can listen to a Taranta and an Alegria on this thread, but the audio quality is a bit bad:
