Try Anders on this forum, he might be able to build you your very own for a little more.

Granada

Easy, but then I am biased I did try out a pretty decent factory blanca in Daniel Bellido's shop last week - 950 Euros.

You can claim back the 16% IBA (tax), or get a good price for cash and you are supposed to declare at US Customs.

Musical instruments are exempt from US customs duty. CD's likewise.

Veet, can you point me at the US Customs reg that clarifies this? A quick Google gives me this:

Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (2005) - CHAPTER 92
MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS; PARTS AND ACCESSORIES OF SUCH ARTICLES

Guitars:
Valued not over $100 each, excluding the value of the case... 4.5%
Other...8.7%

I do see that recorded CDs are exempt

Escribano,

You are indeed correct. Guitars coming into the US are not tax exempt. The tax rate is 8.7%. I know, as I had to pay it on my Tezanos. The problem is you may bring a guitar in and not get charged, but the next time you may. It seems to be up to the mercy of the agent.

The good news is bagpipes are tax-exempt!
