Lole Y Manuel

I saw some thread about Manuel Molina a while ago and it got me interested.

It's a little fusion-y (kind of flamenco and indie rock, at least to my ears).

Here's a great song from them:

I love how it's still very rooted in traditional flamenco yet still sounds fresh without being too 'modern'.

I love Lole y Manuel. They were an important influence for my interest in Flamenco. They may not be "puro" enough for some folks, but I think they are (were) totally "Flamenco"... Perhaps more than some of our current crop.

Check youtube for songs like: Dime, Alquivira, Tu Mira, Todo es de Color, El Rio de mi Sevilla, etc...

Cheers...

Thanks for the song suggestions.

It's a nice break from all these guitar virtuosos, which the more I hear - the less I'm interested. I guess I'm getting old (but not too old to kick some ass!) =P

Nice avatar, btw. Is it from Earthworm Jim?

I love their stuff (even the weird songs with mellatron are still nice songs to listen to) but the majority of the songs on each album I have are just amazing!

I'm glad you enjoyed them. I absolutely love the brief Bularia in the middle of "Tu Mira" as well as "El Rio de mi Sevilla". It just goes to show how great really simple and gritty guitar playing can be (plus Lole's voice )...

I don't remember where I found the avatar. I pick up things like that and keep them in a file just for fun.
