Strange Problem

Hello to everyone on here. I don't tend to post much but very often log in to read the forum posts (and very good they are to).

I have a problem with my right hand middle finger which I think is called "Trigger Finger" It seems to not straighten out. I have heard that this condition can be quite bad although mine is quite mild but still worrying. Pain is not much, just mild. I seem to be getting a lot of clicking comming from my hand. I have been guilty of practising Rasgueado's a lot. On the Guitar, on pencils, car steering wheel ect, ect. I'm just wondering if this is the cause.

Has anyone else had this ?

Regards Martin

Is it something that has gotten worse during the last year or so?

I have a hand disease in my right hand and was operated some 13 - 14 years ago. I have forgotten the name of the dissease. Its called Dupuytrens kontraktur in danish. Its the one that slowly closes your hand so that you cant open it. I was lucky that it started in my pinky. I had 25 stiches in the pinky and went to rehab during more than half a year. It was painfull and I cant strech my pinky but it seems like the dissease has stopped devellopping.

Dupuytrens contracture in English!! Anders, you are lucky that it didnt stop you playing altogether. For most people that is the end of their guitar days.

Trigger finger is a thickening of the tendon in its sheath that causes a flicking sensation. It is related to overuse and can be treated with rest, physical therapy, ultrasound and ergonomics (perhaps your practise position needs looking at) Generally it improves but you do need a medical consultation to start treatment.
