I played in Barcelona last night

The nightclub, not the city! Got a call from a friend, who needed a sub, so Monty and I rushed to practice for an hour, for a two hour gig. He and I have played and practiced together Almost enough to have a repertoire, but we keep flaking out and never really get it together. Anyways, Barcelona is a beautiful supper club, one of the fanciest in a city full of flashy places. It actually has a large stage, and a soundman. The clientele is a mix of nightclub kids--beautiful people wearing black, exposing clothes and lots of makeup, and Italian-looking mafia guys. A kind of loud and "look at me place" not my cup of tea to visit but fine to perform. We started playing a fun rumba, and I noticed that Monty and I were all over these flat screen TVs they have all over the place. I could see about six from the stage. It was cool, it looked like Paco and Al di Meola (well it looked that way). As we went through our sets, the soundman got a little creative, and showed different views, like a closeup of the fingers or profile views. I was wishing on the spot that he could burn a DVD of that so I could use it for a demo. It looked good! We played some songs with a small rhythm machine. At times I felt like I was playing techno, but I began to enjoy it, you can really lock into a nice groove with a good drum machine. I recommend it. It's kind of like jamming with a percussionist who really knows how to lay it down, except you have to pay a percussionist $200 every gig and you can get a rhythm machine for $200! All in all, it was a fun gig. Then I came home and played my new guitar, which I bought from Pat. Actually, I think I'll go do that now. Take care!
