String height at bridge?

My guitars are close to 8 mm, slightly more or less, in string height to soundboard at the bridge. Is there any significant effect by raising this to 9-10mm in the construction process, and how does it effect tone and playability, neck angle, etc??

Why would you want to do so?

A higher bridge setup can produce some more volume, but the cost is playability and flamenco feel. I wouldnt recommend it.
