New Tomatito CD "Sonata Suite"

Hi all!

Does somebody already listened through the tracks of Tomatitos new CD Sonata Suite? I just saw it on flamenco-world.com
The short demos are interesting, especially the orchestrated version of la ardila. I looked on amazon for the CD..there it costs 30Euros.. Thats a lot of money for some well known pimped compositions..

My questions.. Is there anybody who knows it completely and can tell me if it is worth the money? Im not asking for an illegal copy.. Just your experience.

Well,..Im not a fan of orchestra music..so 30Euros are definitely to much for me for this CD.. I just found this tangos that was originally the opening of "paseos de los castanos"..I like the original much more.. hmm..

doit,

as you know im a big tomate fan, i bought it, listened to it 3 times. its good, but i wanted new material. if you want to hear some of his previous material with orchestral backing, buy it. you'll like it if you were into the arrangement stuff he did with michel camilo.

personally im waiting on some new material or as he promised in an interview some more material singers.

Hey Doit,

Here's a radio interview with Tomatito where he talks about his new CD and also theres a few songs from the CD. The interview is in spanish but im just posting this so you can hear some of the songs. I really like the first song they play which they say is a Taranta but sounds to me like a Rondena. Here is the link http://www.ivoox.com/tomatito-flamenco-sinfonico-nuestro-flamenco-audios-mp3_rf_276072_1.html

Cheers,

Ah fine! Thanks for the answer henry!

I like the stuff he did with Camillo. I like piano a lot.. hmm.. I think I will also wait for the next "real" CD of Tomatito. Yes, I also read about a CD where he mainly focuses on playing for cante. I would love a new solo CD more..but having Picasso en mi ojos and Diego Amadors new CD in mind, which fits Tomatitos style..I could imagine that this CD could become very good.

Thanks for the link Cuerdas! I´ll check that!

I just downloaded the interview... I´ll cut the solea and la ardila coz they are complete.. and put them on my mp3. Now having the complete tangos, solea and alegria.. I see no argument to pay 30 euro for the rest..

But Tomatito said in another interview that he likes when his music gets in the hand of people who like it. This way or.."another way".. So.. he seems to make his money with concerts and sees the CD music as ... I dont know but is gold what he does.

Thought it was a bit lackluster...and it's also pretty short for not containing any new stuff. Best orchestra album for me is still the Chicuelo/Poveda one, hands down.

By the way, for those in the UK or Spain, there's a TON of Flamenco on Spotify - I'm talking new releases, even some obscure stuff, hell, even all the Solo Compas/Ritmo Flamenco CDs are on there. And it's all free to listen to and legal.
