My photo of the week 3

As I was passing my local park this afternoon. Gave it an old school flavour in post production. My quest to get a 35mm film look from digital continues but I think I am making some progress.

lovely!
great sense of light and composition. the flowing dark and light patches really guide the eyes toward the center of interest

is this the original shot?

Thanks guys. I work my b/w images a lot in Silver Efex Pro to bring out the shadows and hold back the highlights a little. Much like one would in the darkroom. This one is also cropped a little but nothing major. Then a little coffee tint to hark back to the older plate prints.

I'm gonna stop looking at you "photo of the week"-series. They're just too darn good, they depress me

umm, well only you guys (plus a pro photographer buddy) seem to like this one. The Royal Photographic Society kept quiet about it and a big photo forum was of no use at all, I quote:

there's too much going on in this image. My eye just keeps wandering, there is no real focus.

and

Yeah i agree

Not the way I see it. It is not my best but there is something "other worldly" about it, like a haunting... or maybe you guys are just easily impressed

Good point. I wouldn't post them here if I didn't think you didn't appreciate practise, an eye or ear for detail, technique and of course, duende.

I agree with Ed.

I have a feeling that your taste tends to lean towards old school English painters like Constable (The Haywain etc) as well as other more modern things...

"there's too much going on in this image. My eye just keeps wandering, there is no real focus. "

Maybe that's just a "fashion" thing....there is no "real focus" in a lot of the Old Masters except for another worldly feeling IMO.

Just one guy's personal taste in that critisism IMO.

Good stuff.

cheers,

Ron
