David Palomar new CD

"La Viña cantón independiente" Out on October 18th

Does anyone have any more information on this recording?

I think he's a great singer and really like his voice but I can only listen to the

Siguiriya from his first record. Hopefuly this new cd will be produced in a way I like

(In flamenco recordings I can't deal with the extras like flutes, trumpets, synthesier,

harmonica etc..).

Judging from this recent live shot with five string electric bass and drum kit in the

background I should prepare for disappointment.

hey :-)

u right i had missed this one..

I dont now anything about it man..but David Palomar has got an amazing voice...just depends if he decides to do another crappy too modern too produced one like his debut album which besides 2 or 3 tracks was a bit of a disappointment to me too....even tho i love the guys voice...i think he has what it takes to be one of the best new singers...

but well see..its hard to say.. but by the photo i am not getting my hopes too high ..the only thing missing on that stage is a dj desk

I guess i have a higher tolerance level towards other instruments, but some things i also cant stand like harmonica and trumpet.
Im also unsure what overproduced means. I only look at the music and if i like it, i like it. Thats just it for me. "Overproduced", whatever that means, can still be very good music for me.

Overproduced is fine for me. What i really dont like is bad fusion type of things. I really couldnt miss that.

well i dont know what the general accepted meaning is but when i am referring to it it means too many overplayed instruments (sounds more like a band then a flamenco album), or too many little unnecessary effects...etc..

like a track with drums and background choruses of 10 singers, and harominca and trumpet and sax and palmas and cajon, and base, and a lead guitar and a rithm guitar and then finally his voice.....and even this would be all fine....if done tastefully..
if i dont notice it too much or the song was catchy enough..and only 1 or 2 in the whole album...

i like plenty of overproduced songs but when the whole album becomes an flamenco band or orchestra for me it takes away from the personal feeling and close connection a listener could feel when listening to the album ( in flamenco)..and personally that's why i listen to flamenco....i like the closeness and connection u are able to make with the singer ...u feel like hes in the room.....but the more instruments the bigger the room feels...the less u can appreciate or even notice the little subtleties of the voice because they are lost in between all the competing instruments

RE: David Palomar new CD (in reply to orsonw

sorry long post but i dont have the time now to cut some sentences...

I dont play for singers, so, to be honest i dont look for subtileness of the voice, yet i like cante in general of course and could also accompany a little. I can appreciate the music thats written behind the audio effects, the "room" as you describe. To be honest if i want to hear a 1to1 guitarrist/singer kind of thing, id rather go to a show or something. And i dont know how to say it without being rude, but this 1to1 "in one room" feeling has kind of worn out for me, when it comes to listening something from a CD (live it can be moving). Im seriously lacking the appreciation of basic things. It is a development of my taste, and i dont even think its a good thing, but thats just the way it is. When i hear one medium good / good guitarrist playing for one singer on a CD, it kind of bores me, if the guitarrist is not doing some hyper crazy things (not crazy but guitarristic/solo guitar things). I feel like ive heard the same accomp 1000 times.
I know you guys will say "but flamenco is not about that, its about cante and it can be simple too", but this is just my tastes im sorry.

that's fair enough ...but for me the shortest way to describe it ...is like going home to have sex with the perfect girl but then u have to have sex at the same time with her ugly cousin too ...and the aunt and the grandma and the granddad ...when all u really want is the girl you went home with...and while its interesting to have all this people in bed at the same time...u keep touching a hairy leg or a fat leg or a pair of hairy balls ...and u hardly even get to feel her soft skin

that's a terrible image and explanation...but i been so clean and wholesome lately..i was scared i lost it... i havent

Thats a very exaggerated and unrealistic story Florian. That would never happen in real life. Coz we all know, there is no perfect girl.
