Streaming Chacón and Montoya right ...

Don Antonio Chacón 1913-127
Guitarra: Rámon Montoya

Trad flamenco... una cerveza para mí!

Streaming is optimised for dial-up. It's a bunch of old recordings... a little quiet and lots of hiss!

To Listen
You need Windows Media Player

1. Select File->Open URL... and type in http://212.19.66.189:8080
2. Hit OK.

(don't click on the above link as nothing will happen)

I'll repeat it for a few hours this evening (UK time)

RE: Streaming Chacón and Montoya ri... (in reply to Escribano

Thanks for putting these occasional things up Simon.
Much appreciated.

On the "evolution" of Flamenco, apart from the legendary status of the man, do you think that that sort of voice, with mucho vibrato and rather high pitched would be regarded with any sort of acclaim in modern Spain?
Or have things moved on?
Also the "naive" kind of guitar playing, reminiscent (to me) of 1960's American films with Dean Martin etc where the action would take place in Mexico, while an orange faced, half pissed Dean would be chasing the all American girl of his dreams LOL!
I'm not criticizing here, just being honest as to how it sounds to my admittedly uneducated ear, being a 60's kid and hearing Paco/Camaron.
Personally, I'm not keen on it.
How do others feel?

cheers

Ron

I like it; it reminds me of the peña I just haven't visited yet.

Just for you, I have changed it to Camarón with PDL. A little brighter I think you'll find.
