I really want to get my hands on a f...

Hello to anyone who might be reading this, i am looking for a pretty good or allright flamenco guitar. However i am a bit poor you can say.. I am willing to pay as much as 1000$ or something around there.. since i am a 18 year old student i dont have alot of money so.

And thats why i came here i thought maybe someone could help me find a new one online, or i would also buy used. i feel more comfortable with buying fro europe but USA is also ok i guess.

I am from Norway by the way, and new to this forum, very nice community here! lots of answers here to some of my questions as well!

I hope i am not asking to much or in the wrong thread, and i hope all who reads this and knows something will answer, thanks for the oportunity!

Hey odinz and welcome to the foro. There are plenty of great bargains out there. Buying from europe should save you alot on postage so you can get more guitar for your money so to speak.

My flamenco mentor just love the Navarro that I made him try. Easy to play and sounds flamenco for sure!

I think you can't go wrong with a Navarro in that price range. Like M.S.A said, it can rival higher quality guitar and much cheaper!

Hey fu! You bought the Navarro! Congrats!

When did you get it? Did you get the negra or the blanca from that guy on fleaBay?

Hey GV! I bought the negra one. That guitar smells soo good, it's crazy!!! The one I received sounds amazingly good and very loud. I just don't know if they all sound like that or not, but the one I received is very nice.

To my ears it's a very big step upgrade from the Yamaha CG171 SF which now sound flat compare to the Navarro...

I'm now tempted by a Castillo!!!!! hahahahah!!!!

I have a blanca. It is loud indeed! Not as dry as what youd expect from a flamenca blanca though but its brand new. It can get a bit mushy when playing rasgueos.

I was just at a juerga. There were 4 guitar players. One played a Glen Canin. Canin was the loudest. Next was mine. The other 2 were "made in spain" guitars worth 8x more.

I originally got the navarro as a beater. Or something I could play till I could afford a better one. But it's getting tough because it's pretty good! My 2 friends who played with me at the juerga are now probably getting a Navarro also.

We all agreed my Navarro Student model doesnt have the prettiest wood and the most polished worksmanship but they said if it were a shark, it ate all their guitars.

Ok maybe hard to admit but I am a Navarro and Castillo fanboy now. Castillos... I even want to get me started...

i have a bellido/alhambra for sale for $800. the guitar has a bellido label and stamp but is not a bellido 1a rather a guitar made for him. i believe it is an alhambra 7fc--solid woods, cypress sides and back. it has a very good flamenco tone, is lighter than a typical alhambra, has new tuners and is in excellent condition. see the classified section. send me an e-mail if interested.

i am in need of selling it as i have been unemployed now for a few weeks and will have to relocate and couch surf for a while.

hi..I`ve started with a Manuel Rodriquez, but after a short while I felt I was already 'outgrowing' this guitar, it just didn`t had the right sound to me anymore...
Just like M.S.A said...
Now I got a 2010 Fransisco Navarro Blanca, and it`s awesome!
Beautiful clear, bright flamenco tone with ample bass sound.
I love the guitar and play on it ONLY now....a couple of days ago I picked up the Rodriquez again, just to realize it sounds like crap honestly...amazing how the sound is so different than the Navarro...
Anyway, just wanted to add another opinion/experience to your list of happy Navarro users :)......I would definitely recommend getting one!...I got mine off of Ebay....Good luck!

Hey thanks for posting!
Yeah i understand what you mean
Untill now Ive used a Jose Ortega classical guitar and it does not fit how I am playing at all

Yeah i am also looking for the blanca, it looks so nice.
Now I am Totally convinced
I cant seem to find any on ebay but i guess I can order from the website itself maybe.
Do you know if there is a model with pegs instead of machine tuners? Both look nice, but I have a crush on the pegs now for a while

Thanks for your input it has helped me reach my definate decision

All the best

I am not sure about the pegs, I have seen them on Navarro guitars, but they might be in a different price range. Mine just has the machine tuners.

oh..and check your mail :)

Most makers charge the same for pegs as machines, but they should be less because they are a lot cheaper and easier to install.

Machines cost more than a set of premade pegs, but the labor involved in making the pegs work perfectly makes the price about equal.

When you install machines there is one more operation to be done after the tuner barrel holes are drilled and that is to chisel out or rout out the string slots. When you install pegs you have to drill six holes for the peg and then carefully ream the holes with a tapered reamer. The pegs themselves need to be individually shaved to make them true and then each peg must me fitted carefully and adjusted to the correct height off of the headstock veneer.

So each respective installation, pegs or machines, has detail and finish work that takes time to do correctly. They end up being about the same after materials and labor are accounted for. Both types of installation require a set of tools which must be made and maintained as well.

To get esoteric about it . Installing machines is more of workmanship of certainty operation and installing pegs more of a workmanship of risk operation. But that is another story.

Here's what Manuel Reyes had to say on the subject - "Mechanical tuners are so much easier to install for the guitarrero - no varnishing, carving, fitting, and all that extra work."
