Henry

What actually is Sanlucar? An informal get together? An established festival?

I've heard the name mentioned often but I'm still not entirely sure what goes on.

Just curious.

Gerardo Nuñez, originally from Jerez, has a summer home in Sanlucar de Barrameda. He gives his flamenco curso there, and many of the foro members have attended and met face to face. Check out the photos from last year:

Thanks Ricardo,

Looks like a lively gig man. Are the courses generic in that you can apply what he teaches regardless of your level or are they more geared towards the intermediate/advanced players?

Ricardo, are you going to be there again this year?

Sean, the course is about as organised as anything gets in flamenco but the material is mostly improvised. The intermediate class is a mix of older and classic falsetas. The advanced class is seriously advanced, gerardos concert and experimental material.

I was at these shops 2-3 month ago. It was really disappointing. In the first one the grandpa didn´t give me good condes but I asked him for that. I got every time a little better one till I said him "give me the BEST, BRILLIANT, perfect CONDE you have in stock man". Than he gave me a very expensive one...and it was ****.
The other two shops gave me better condes they were also cheaper but these shops had the aire of a smokers-waiting room at a train-station. They looked like you remember MAN in BLACK with will Smith? When he entered the first time the building of the Control-corporation? And he passed this guy in this empty room who sat in front of the really BIG speaker or air-condition that made BOOOOOOOOOOO all the time?
So, the other two shops looked basically like this room. Horrible. And in one a grandpa who wasnt able to hear anything (wrote small letters all the time to communicate) brought guitars from another room I was not allowed to enter. The third one was a also a hole of concrete with a small window where a grandmother was sitting in and reached me some condes... All very very very very very disappointing.

i can imagine it now, in the shop.

doit: "senor, deseo las mejores guitarras de conde que usted tiene, da me lo!!!

el grandpa: "cierre su boca guiri, he conseguido los problemas de espina dorsal!!!! aiieeeeee......consigo demasiado viejo para esta mierda"

grandpa stumbles into the back room:

el grandpa: "todo estes turistas, es todo el defecto de paco que tengo que hacer todo esta mierda, Dios maldice a imitadores de paco"....
"deseé una vida tranquillo, yo no me inscribí para ser un esclavo para todo estos imitadores de paco"

.....

apologies if anyone gets offended, me an my weird little imagination
