A way people on the foro can help me

Dear people of the foro,
As you may have noticed, lately I've been on the computer a lot. To some extent it is driving me insane. I'm used to playing guitar all day long, not checking forums all day long (though I do read Sherdog).

Here is what you can do to help me: give me something to play. Tell me a tab, or a scale, or something that you want to see me play. No full length pieces of other players, or even falsetas really; I know tons of those already at the moment I'm really not interested in trying to replicate the playing of others. Just give me some scale (or arpeggio or rasgeo or some combination or whatever you want), some **** that you think would be technically challenging, and I'll grind away at it for a while and post a video. Or even write your own falseta and I will try to play it.

So yeah, I'm basically saying, challenge my ass. I love a challenge, and it'll get me back into the "play a million hours a day" spirit, which I love. Dude computers are tiring.

Plus starting June 2nd I'm gonna be playing a gig every couple days, so I need to be in shape. No money from gigs = can't pay rent = lose apartment in Madrid = have to move back in with my dad in New Hampshire = death. Help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont want you anything to play for me. You could tell me what you want me to play for you. Than I maybe think about it. lol ;.) ... If you wanna play something and have the feeling that you wanna share it. Share it. We all will enjoy it. Im sure. But stay cool man.

A challenge? Ok! Lets start a new challenge! Any suggestions? Im in if its not about composing or who has the fastest longest picado. ;.)

P.S. Sorry I only read the first part of your post... I saw something about death and help me in the second.. but I have to go to sports now and read it later. Please dont get me wrong. Youre nice and I dont wanna step on your feelings with my post.. So ..wait for other members who write more useful stuff.

i think you'd be greatly challenged and would also do great service to our community by tabbing Diego del Morao's soleá por bulerías :)

I would like to give you a challenge!
Here's a exercise that looks very simple but is extremely hard imo.
(without capo ofcourse)
Maybe you could post video of this exercise and how you do it, I will upload my try within a week or so.
enjoy!

I put up a couple gilbert licks in the other thread that should get you picado a good challenge. But I see you want to play gigs....flamenco I assume???

Technique was fun to work on when I was young but I dont' have much time for it now, just work on techniques as the appear in music I work on. The arps/picados of Paco's Guajiras is pretty much my only technique warm up anymore. But if you are into flamenco as much as you seem to say you are, I predict your future now. One day you are gonna be like this:

"Dudes!!! Ok I am sick of picados and techniques, boring and gets you nowhere in flamenco. It is all about accompanying the cante now! So please share stuff about accompanying, I love it so much now its all I want to do...."

Now I know it is conjecture on my part, but that is the way of the serious players, especially those not born in spain. In fact, I have heard rumors that certain famous and respected caño roto persons (no names) have embarrassed themselves on stage attempting to accomp cante por derecho that was not worked out before hand. It turns out to be quite the challenge for working pros.

So I offer up the entire 12 page thread in the audio section. Pick any one of those cante minus guitar uploads to practice with, instead of your speed licks, as a challenge and upload your results as many of us have done. I think you will quicker be on your way of making some money and work in flamenco, not having to go home with dad, if you can get a handle on that stuff.

Ricardo

yes I know I looks very easy, but the hard thing (at least for me) is the barre and still keep the tone right
Maybe you could upload it? then we can see if its really that easy (and then I just suck )

Reducing myself to a slave? NEVER! Only partially because here are also no worth to mention singers. available. As I told before I like the flamenco guitar music. I´m not interested in digging the whole field maniac-alike and in the end grow me some long hair with a permanent wave, drape my self over and over with gold accessories, wear only white clothes and pretend to be a gypsy. Nope Sir, nope. Well I only do that to some extend but its not "THE THING" for me.

And picadoruns can lick my balls.

Well,.. but I'm enjoying the show that goes on. Keep it up.

guitarristamadrid, thanks for all of your posts and tabs. You've given me a new perspective on the way flamenco is taught in Spain. Keep them coming!

Ricardo is right. Solo guitar, or even "the guitar part" is something that is not relevant or important among flamencos. Especially solo guitar.

Don't worry Yohan- I also find keeping the picado tone clean while holding the barre not easy, not impossible but I wouldn't call it easy. Without the detail of holding the barre throughout it would be easy.

OK well done Florian, you're a good player that's why it's easy for you but not for everyone.

lol nah u guys are right, dont take me so seriously i am just sitting here in a light mood mesing around , i didnt even do it exactly as it was written or all that great...yes it is tricky with the bar and the tone...but its not that hard compared to other things i wanted to challenge guitarrist de madrid with

anyway the slow thing was sopossed to be a joke incase u expected it fast...i meant no disrespect or to insinuate anything, infact if u do it slow it will be eazyer to do the bars ...i do a million "eazy" exercises...they greate for technique...and i am going to keep going with this one too for a while

Yes Florian the solea is too easy to be a challenge.

A good cante accompaniment in his own style or the Jesus de Rosario picado if Evan is up for it.

Anyway I don't need him to prove anything, only for fun and because he asked for a challenge.

Florian man you should be ashamed. You changed some notes there, the hard ones on the F barre should be 5th fret not 4th, on the G chord too, 7th fret, plus the note changes to F#, then the scale down you changed, and overall did not play it all at a steady tempo!

Yes man. The whole point he was asking about it was because of that stretch. It feels totally different if you play 4th fret. Sheeeeesh!!!!!

I don't think you can do it.

It's like someone asking "bulerias compas is hard how do you do it". Then you say "compas is easy look" and load a rumba as proof.
