Take a look at my guitars

Hi fellow flamenco lovers.

I've made a little webpage with photos and some description of the guitars I make in my little workshop outside Granada.

Take a look, and feel free to say what you think.

The page is: http://perso.wanadoo.es/eliasson

Saludos

Simon, you'll be very welcome. The peghead is not axactly sweet. She kicks and barks like a small terrier and is equally fun.

Se you

Anders,

I've been on your web site before and every time I go on it I get a Trojan Horse virus that I have to get off my computer. My virus protection software tells me it's from your site. My guess is, everyone else is getting, but are not aware.

Neal,

I'm running Norton Antivirus and AVG. Norton can't find it as well, but AVG does. You can get a free copy of AVG at http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php

Hi Patrick

I'm sorry to hear this. I use AVG myself, (and Norton) but I do not get any virus alert from my webpage. Could it be that you get it from somewhere else? Also, what's the name of the trojan horse?

I hope we can figure it out.

Anders,

No, it only happens from your site. As soon as I go to your site AVG pops up a box and says I have it. I just cleaned it with AVG ten minutes ago and got it again as soon as I went to your site. It hasn't been a big deal as I can get rid of it easy enough.

AVG says it’s called “Trojan Horse Sec Thought E”

well, I downloaded the web page and ran AGV and Norton and later on Adaware, and nothing. It must come from somewhere else.

To be honest, I posted this thread with the hope that we would discuss guitars, epecially mine, and not Trojan horses and antivirus.

Sorry if I'm the one causing a problem on someone elses computer, but I have no Idea what to do besides what I already have done.

We're just trying to be helpful. Your guitars look beautiful. Any price ranges you care to quote? I know how many hours goes into this kind of work.

Hi Anders,
Those guitars look absolutely beautiful!
I'm in total admiration of you guys who can create something like that out of wood with such amazing detail.
There are many great furniture makers and artists who work in wood.
But IMO it's got to be at the highest level of human craftmanship to be able to not only create a thing of beauty, but a highly sophisticated machine for producing wonderful sound.
Amazing!
I take my hat off to you señor!

cheers

Ron

Sorry to change the subject. No big deal to me. I got rid of it. Just giving you and others a heads up.

I had the same question about your guitars. How much? I've been tracking your building process sense you started posting info here and on FT. I like the direction you are going by talking to as many players as you can to find out what they want. You've said it before, most of the Spanish builders think like they did fifty years ago. Many times you get what they want, not what the player wants.

Hi again
Thanks for the nice words concerning my guitars, and to Patrick, thanks for what you say about listening to players and not just staying within the tradition or just make what you like. It's a very good and clear observation. One of the big problems with some flamenco builders is that they are not integrated in the flamenco world. They dont play, they dont listen, and some dont even like flamenco. This makes for some weird attitudes. Like fx. someone saying that he makes modern flamenco guitars, when what he does is making semi classical guitars because he doesn't like the sound of a "real" flamenco guitar being played hard por bulerias with the capo on the third fret. You know this bright percussive sound that cuts through a couple of palmas, a cajon, someone singing his heart out, maybe some taconeados and the general mumble. It's not a sweet or full bodied sound, but the flamenco guitar must be able to work under these circumstances. It's the old story of the instrument serving the art or visa versa. That the flamenco guitar also needs to be capable of expressing sweetness in a alegria or full bodied sorrow in a soleá is correct and important. In the end it's a quite complicated instrument to build.

Well prices. Untill end january, where my prices will go up some 10% because I need to adjust prices to the prices of the shops where I've got guitars for sale, my prices are: Traditional 1200,- Euros with a case. Selecta is not a model, but a cypress or Indian rosewood guitar with standard gotoh tuners will start from 1600,- Euros, and go up to 2800,- or more for a Brazil rosewood guitar with Irwin Sloane tuners. For more details, please mail me personally.

About the virus thing. Sorry for sounding like: shut up and talk about what I want you to" It was not my intention . I'm not a native english speaker and sometimes it creates confusion. I really appreciate the help. I hate the f+%&3'Å Bastards myself, and if I had the problem I would appreciate all kinds of help.
I've studied the subject a bit, by calling some friends and surfing the net a bit. Seems like some trojan horses install a program on your HD (normally Windows/system or system 32) This program then links itself to a program or a website. So that everytime you open this program or site, you'll get a virus alert and other problems. I had exactly this problem some 8 - 9 month ago, where I thought I got trojan horses from a flightsim forum, whereas in the end I had this program installed in system32 (Win98 those days). I had to go and manually delete it (that was difficult) and the problem disappeared.

Well enough for now. gotta work

Saludos
Anders

I run Mac OS X and Linux (Mandrake), I never have these problems

Anders, I really like your headstock shape on your peghead! I love the curved contours on the side rather than just straight cuts like everybody else does. One of these days I'll come into some money and then I'll have to get you to build me a peghead negra that sounds like a blanca.

Until then, I'll remain poor.....

Hi Jamey.

Thanks for your nice words. Some like this (Steelstring like) peghead some doesn't. I made it so that the strings are on the same side of the pegs, so that you dont have to think to much when you tune.

This with a negra that sounds like a blanca is a bit like asking someone to make a cheese with the taste of beef. I can make you a very flamenco sounding Negra, but It wont sound like a blanca.

Saludos
