question - shoud i wait to record

hi i just wanted peoples opinions. i have only been playing flamenco for a few months, so i havnt recorded myself playing any, as i want to be respectful and wait until i can do justice

but i have noticed that when a beginner records themselves here, they recieve some really valuable advice, and i would benefit from doing that.

what are peoples thoughts on this

Hi Marduk,

My advice would be to upload right from the start. The worst thing you can do is pick up bad habits from the very beginning and then have a pro tell you that your doing it wrong and have to relearn everything!

Plus, there are great people here that love to give advice and listen to everything you upload. You will not be disappointed here!

i only have my webcam but i will record some stuff that florian is teaching me, and I am learning a moraito bulerias flasetta, that i am practicing

You are right. Beginners get good basic advice. Woe to the person though who is a good player in another style(metal perhaps

who has a good recording setup and good skills. If they don't pay attention to the basics, they will get hammered. People here will definately let you know if you are lacking in rhythm or compas. Flamenco has a sort of phrasing as well, kind of like reading poetry where you can feel by the first part of a phrase how it is supposed to end. If you go somewhere else, you are going to get it. Even if harsh though, it is well intentioned so don't get offended.

I recommend for your uploads to be short. This way people can be specific on where you are going wrong and why. Fix the problems that are addressed before uploading again. Don't just upload 10 minutes of another palo. These are just things I've seen and not done. I have only uploaded once but I have several things to fix before I send in my next one. I will probably actually upload the same thing as last time only hopefully better.

ok i have to get a couple of hours contra practice in, and then i will see if i can get my cam working well.

i am still learning to feel bulerias, so my compas is not perfect yet, but i am making progress daily.
