Putting on the Ritz

Due to certain financial circumstances, I have been obligated to look for some work, and yesterday I visited some of our nicest resorts with CDs, work experience, and dressed in my finest "Miguel de Maria, Spanish and Southwestern Guitarist" outfits (think black, opulent clothes, something like a cross between Antonio Banderas in Desperado and GQ). I have played in a lot of multi-million dollar private residences, resorts, and top-notch restaurants, but the Ritz Carlton is the nicest of all. The employees look like they are wearing designer clothes, the walls are decorated with antiques, no detail is spared in this incredibly rich hotel. As I waited in the lobby for the Food and Beverage Manager (that's who you ask for if you want a gig!), I saw Louis Gosset, Jr. stride in and be accosted by some people. In the cigar room, there was a radio telecast being done. I was taken by the manager into the Cafe, a gorgeous revelation of light and airy, yet still unspeakably splendid richness. The Ritz is the best!

Putting on the Ritz , PART II (in reply to Miguel de Maria

Darwin Bravo, the F&B manager of the Ritz Carlton, called me today and wants to try me out on Sunday! Man, I can't believe it...the Ritz is so nice, I would love to be chilling in the dining room doing my Spanish guitar thing, hobnobbing with celebrities and ....okay let me calm down! I'll let you know how the audition goes :)

Yeah, best of luck Mike, though I'm sure you won't need it. When someone like that calls YOU, as opposed to the other way round, you must be on to a winner.

We don't have celebs in these parts - nearest I've come is playing a gig with a guy in the audience thats reads the local news on telly

Good luck and if you get it, which I am sure you will, don't forget to carry some business cards at all times - all the big knobs pass through a Ritz-Carlton at some point and they throw lots of parties of their own.
