estribillo examples

hey everyone,
can anyone post any examples of estribillos that they know of? we need something for the dancer teacher to sing while the students make their exit.

we're having a hard time finding some good examples.

Um, estribillo for what???? Bulerias? There are so many. They are just a chorus to repeat as you exit. bulerias that ends an Alegrias will be different then one that would end solea for example.

Was the dance just a bulerias like jerez style, or was this the end of a solea or alegria? If it was end of solea (my guess to save time), some you have heard like in Florian's recent vid are common.
2:21-2:42 is common. Also 6:48-end.

yup, just straight up bulerias. we're having a student show in february and all the girls are going to dance a fin de fiesta at the end. there's no singer in boston so she has to sing. we're trying to find simple, straight forward letras too because right now, we're recycling the same two over and over again.

thanks for the link, i'm going to dissect that video in a bit...

Well you can still use those, but it it most typical to change to major key....listen to jerez bulerias, zambo family etc

ok, i just picked out a cool g7-c7-Bb-a section in florian's video at the end. i just hope the letras are clear enough that she can catch it.

Alegria is a slow bulerias in Emajor
Solea is an even slower bulerias in E
Tango is a actually bulerias in 4/4, people often dont know...
Minera is a free bulerias in G#
Taranta is a free bulerias in F#

yeah good one. A7-Dm-G7-C7-F7-Bb-Bb7(gm)-A (circle of 5th progression)

ha ha, actually you are not far off. I could go with that generalization, except the last 2 are fandangos. Everything in flamenco is either bulerias or fandangos of some sort.

Siguiriyas is bulerias BACKWARDS, and some people try to be cute and do fandango por bulerias. That's all there is to it!!

Some exit letras, repeat as necessary:

ay amor, ay amor
bajo el naranjo en flor

la vida la vida la vida la vida ey
es un contratiempo la vida la vida ey (trabalenguas- very hard)

ay machaca machaca machaca mechero
que tu eres de la Habana, que yo soy Habanero

Sol de Caribe, dame en la cara
que quiero irme moreno en España

Ay mama, ay mama
ay periquito me quiere pegar
ay como periquito me quiere pegar

que quiere que tenga que quiere que tenga
que tengo frio y no tengo, ay leña

yo te he querio, ya no te quiero
tengo en mi casa enero, nuevo

tengo un canasto, tengo un canasto
lleno de almendras hasta los brazos

..are the first few that pop to mind.

actually, that's exactly how i thought about it when i started playing alegrias and it helped soooo much with my compas and gave me so many more ways to vary it. before that revelation, i was hopeless.

cool! thanks ricardo! i usually leave out the A7 in the beginning and play from Dm onwards at the end but we didn't have any letras to go with it. i'll show her florian's video next time.

veet, that's a gold mine!!! thanks man!

quote:

que quiere que tenga que quiere que tenga
que tengo frio y no tengo, ay leña

she was singing this one last night. i don't necessarily know the chords to these. is it okay to do whatever as long as it sounds good?

THe first line is just A major (addb9 and 7th if you want), the second line is normal buleria ending, Bb-C-Bb-A (12,2,4,6), Rasgwado to 10. They often repeat the second line, and some singers extend the first an extra "que quiere que tenga," that would be an extra 6.
