casa patas is quite cool. last time when i was there, there were some unknown (or less known) group , i even don't remember the name....but the guitarists were extremely kick a$$ guitarists with some nice solo pieces......and they have an extremely good sound engineer there (even though its quite small there),,,, the quality of sound there was like CD

ok its a bit touristic there and not so "underground" but still muy original flamenco atmosphere...no nuevo junk or something

the latest La Truco has got fernando la rua playing ...love his style and yeah the sound is just crisp and perfect..

almost everyone plays there

agreed that editing is terrible, makes no sence

hmm..thats usually a sign for bad quality. The worser the artist the more editing...

Yea I dont know them.. so..I dont judge them. Maybe just the editor is a dork..

EDIT: just watched that... LOL... I think the editor was on drugs or hate the group...

DUDE ITS CASA PATAS everysingle one of this guys is a star in their own right

the artists dont have anything to do with the editing

ive never heard of anyone seeing a bad artist or a bad show at casa patas

Alpacino and Deniro must be terrible cause they do about 25 takes for each line and change the camera to different angles about 5 times..

I am guessing the guy is not a flamenco and not a professional editor...and just tried to use multy angles and close ups to make it look more professional but the videos dont make any sence now ...cause they dont acctualy touch the sound...just do different cameras

I was in exactly that restaurant around 1 month ago. Its a restaurant and at the end of this long hall is a door to the stage. Its a known place. Well,.. the price 31Euro for 45min show was too much. There werent also any famous artists. Maybe I had bad timing..

Almost nobody sat at a table but the bar was overcrowded. Maybe you have to eat if you use a table. I ordered a tinto verano and I got a water-vine mix.. That was no tinto verano.. Also the half asian barman forgot to give me my drink several time... So... maybe the flamenco is good there,BUT the servicewas so lala.

man, you can't compare the service of a flamenco tablao to german restaurants.
everything is "relaxed" there ...you know ...and thats the cool thing about all this "flamenco" atmosphere....nobody really gives a sh..t about anything , just have some fun

i had many servezas btw,,,,and i picked them all myself at the bar and didn't wait.. haha

Thx for posting! Even if its just 1-5 second clips, , you can see they are great dancers. Belen Lopez and the lady in green (dont remember the name) were the best imo. But they were also the sexiest, i might be biased...
it is an important question: how much does the look influence your, or the avarage audience's judgement on the dancer? Based on my experience, ALOT. Probably less in spain.

well il notice a beautiful dancer and say shes a beautiful dancer and even have dreams of our lovechild ...but i wouldnt rate her higher then a dancer i think is really good...as a dancer...(well id like to think anyway)

if anything it goes the other way...il dismiss her asuming the only reason shes there is cause shes pretty or sleped with a singer or guitarrist or someone important....were as an average looking or less atrractive dancer must have gotten there purely cause shes a greate dancer..

(ofcourse i know its wrong of me to make asumptions and stereotype people like this but none of this judging is a concious effort...its just a quick initial subconcious reaction....in our subconcious we arent allways as politically correct as we would like...speaking for myself anyway...but once i have had time to think about it and observe it i try to put it right in my mind, id like to think i can come to a pretty fair conclusion)

otherwise ..I should love Sara but her face expresions annoy me...i like her feet and her musiceans..and have respect for what she does but when she marks she annoys me

but if anything i am more unfair to prettier dancers

What really annoys me about her, no joke, is that she has no nails You can see it in the seguiriyas of Sabores, there is one close up in the slow section. Feet is imo what separates the good dancers from the exceptional ones. And in case of Sara, it is what separates her from the exceptional ones . Not only feet i think she generally perfect and the most complete dancer. Her face has changed, check out her hot baby face !

RE: Great Flamenco videos..CASA PATAS TV (in reply to Florian

now, seriuosly, first of all , i think there is some difference between us and the "average" audience.

generally, i think we flamencos focus on many details, like feet work , compas , how they vibe , etc (and yes of course also the look, figure, face....whether we want or not ) ......whereas the average audience with no or less flamenco "experience" just observes an overall impression of the "dancing girl" and much more "face, figure ,look" than us.

but that goes for male dancers and female reaction too (joaquin cortez , etc. )

and this is not even just for dancers. i mean, if you take rafael cortez and jeronimo maya and put them in front of an audience of "average" girls and ask them to vote anonymously which one they would like to see, if they had only one choice, then they would probably vote for jeronimo..... even though the look is absolutely irrelevant here

these are unconsious things going on and we live in an unfair world.
even if we are talking about flamenco and not some fashion show.

lol well i think she has greate feet and has that one nice turn she does over and over but...lets not lose our minds

to me she is missing the most important ingrediant,... i dont even know the word for it...but i know that its not there...i know what i am thinking but i dont know what you would call it

earthyines ? dirtyiness ? heavynes? to me she looks like a litlle girl dancing light on her feet rather then a woman...i prefer a certain style of dancer has so much wieght that it feels like their feet are supperglued to the floor...and the marking is into the floor..not up in the air...Antonio canales or la Truco for example.. marks with power and weight.....they can do nothing and you steel feel the power

the weaknesses of dancers are more aparent in slow parts...how controled they are...not in fast parts....thats what i use to decide who i like anyway

i dont know how to describe it but i am sure everyone knows it when they see it...i find Sara too light on her feet...not enough weight in her marking

RE: Great Flamenco videos..CASA PATAS TV (in reply to Arash

The tricky thing imo is, you cant separate look and expression. Its the same thing when a dancer is overweight. It would literally get in the way with the style that some dancers dance. You can train your expression, just like you can train your artistic sensitivity, but you cant change your look too much.

Flo, lol, so whos your favorite (females i mean)? I think Eva is cool too.
I know exactly what you mean with earthiness. Earthiness is cool too, really. But i prefer to watch the more festive or rather rythmic dense dances anyway. Another dancer whom you wont like is probably Patricia Guerrero, also dances kind of light.

Regardless of the style, a good dancer should be able to put her heart and feelings on the stage. Thats what impresses me the most. It can be done via steps but also other things. And imo Sara has it all!

PS... does nobody share my view on nails???

ofcourse man, shes greate, il rush to the video store just like everyone else to see her latest dvd...sorry i dont wanna be too critical, shes greate at what she does...and she knows her strength (feet) and shes higlighting that..and she allways has a dream team of musiceans

I dont have one...i have a few..and then i see dancers i like that i dont even know their names...so i know when i see someone i like..

Sure Eva is Eva..since the last dvd i got was La Truco at Casa Patas...is growing on me more and more...i love her power and her style ...that Tarantos is probably my fav tarantos i have ever seen danced...

I hadent noticed her nails lol

lol, no need to feel sorry, we're just talking about our tastes. Its fun. Probably my tastes dont match 100% with the majority of flamencos anyway, and its very ok so. I would just like to see more of Sara in a standard setting, like those tve clips on youtube, and not just big "ballet" productions.

Really surprising about the nails A woman should have nails which are at least as long as mine, and they are really short for a guitar player (just above tip) ... I couldnt accompany a dancer with no nails Something in the aire would be missing. lol.
