Estaban Antonio

I found this video a while back and clicked on it.

While i was waiting for it to download i read the description box and it read, Esteban Antonio, described by The Observer newspaper as the most innovative contributor to flamenco of modern times???

Anyway i thought, i have never heard of this guy and was waiting for something seriously dodgy. well, I actually really liked what he played, more classical than flamenco but his style overall inspired me in a way. Certainly not representative of the most innovative contributor to flamenco but worth a listen.I love the sound of his 57 reyes guitar.

The other thing i noticed in the interview is that flamenco guitar and martial arts seem to go together. I am also a black belt, as are quite a few of my flamenco guitar playing friends in brisbane. I remember talking to Ramon Ruiz in london and him telling me he has a black belt as well. I read a post on here just the other day of someone saying they were off to a martial arts class. Judging from holyevil's you tube thumbnail pick he is into martial arts as well. The flamenco singer my father accompanied was also the amateur boxing champion of spain at the time.Lol! I am curious to hear how many people on here are into some kind of martial arts?

Anyway, Here is the interview. He only plays at the end. Do any of you know this guy? Does he play more traditional Flamenco?

Watch from 4:45 to the end.

Anyway, I made it to black belt when I was about 12 or 13 in karate, it was a small private school only 2 locations I knew of then. My best friend sings flamenco and plays rumba guitar, he got his black belt in bolivia and I think won a tournament there. I would say the discipline involved might be related. After that age, the guitar dominated my life.

I knew there would be more,

thanks Ricardo, that video was from 1986. He has obviously been playing a long time. It would be nice to hear this guy play a solea or something.
