Barred chords and right and elbow

Hi all,

So lately Ive been noticing that when I play barred chords I tend to use my right elbow to push the guitar into me, otherwise, it tends to want to move away from me.

So I guess my question is: Is this normal? What do most people do? Am I supposed to learn to float my right arm completely and not apply any pressure, or do most people rest their arm and use it for control.

I know it sounds like a total beginner question, but I never really gave it too much thought before!

Thanks,

Vic

i think maybe at first, you may need to use a lot of opposing force with the right arm. later down the line, you won't think about it anymore, you'll be using a lot less force. the right arm just sitting there will be enough to balance the guitar.

happy holidays!

Thanks Cathulu,

I had seen the thread before, but gave it a better read now. Well, back to falseta....have to practice getting a stronger golpe on beat 8!
