As far as I am aware Cantiñas is the same rhythm as Alegrias, played in C.

cheers

Cantinas include caracoles, mirabrás, remeras and alegrías. Same beat as Bulería, melodically structured in in major tones.

Right, thanks. The one I'm listening to right now is at (fast) bulerias tempo, in E.

Too fast to be an Alegria, so I guess that would make it one of the others you mentioned.

Jon,
the way you can tell is by the melody of the cante. The Alegrias and Cantinas have specific melodies that are distinctive. If someone were to sit there and sing it to you, you would understand immediately.

Jon;

Try my web site and go to the Music link. Look for "Traditional Flamenco Palos" and you will find an answer.

This doesn't sound like any Alegria I've heard, and not a trinny tran tran in sight .

When I have a moment, I'll rip it and upload a clip so you guys (and gal!) can see what you think.
