Sounds like a little psycho therapy may be necessary El Ted. I get the sense you may possess incredible powers of intellect. I imagine that you must receive many complements about your amazing ability to communicate with such wisdom. I will mark this day in regret that we have lost an important member who is undeniably in complete connection with the real reason why flamenco exists..... Spain. I have searched half a lifetime for the answer and yet it was under my nose the whole time.

Yours Truly,

Which young americans???

That was the only time that what ted is talking about makes sense. Otherwise, what the hell is he talking about?

I'm 45, I'm not young, but I remember the David Bowie song Young Americans.
I also don't tell people how to play guitar, it's not my station in life.

Maybe we should be the Ugly Flamenco Americans- UFA

I don't think anyone is telling YOU how to play, maybe because YOU don't ask, and if you do it's your own fault when you get an answer.

If you DON'T ask you'll never get better, that's your fault too. Any tip I get, no matter how good the player, no matter what the nationality, I always assume there's something to it. I don't know you well, but to me you seem like somebody who is doomed to never improve.

You can go to Spain and learn if you want and it is the best (I've been there a few times so maybe you'll listen to me), but I assume if that were possible for you then you would have and your playing would be a lot better than it is now. I guess we silly yanks are all you got

P.S. your attitude stinks, Ted

Being in Spain, doesnt mean learning anything. You can learn a lot if you find the right people, but you can also find a lot of VERY bad teachers and players trying to teach you worthless things.
Some of the persons that have been most important in my personal flamenco learning experience have been young Americans. I´m very thankfull for that.

Also interesting, I can se that we are getting older together. Maybe one day we´ll be a forum full of old Americans, Danes, Germans, Italians, etc.

Hey, don't take it so seriously guys!

It's just a feature of the Forum that from time to time an apparently normal member will suddenly flip out!

We've seen it here lots of times before and will see it again.

People can be under pressure at home or work, have personal issues, or feel dissatisfied with their playing, or even just life in general... and are then overpowered by the dreaded Hairy Canary... and just let loose at anyone.

Usually the text content of the message is not really worth considering anyway, as the writer has probably just recovered from rolling up and down the carpet, with their hands over their ears, screaming.. "AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGH!!!"

Not even worth commenting on, so don't take it seriously.

Get well soon, Ted.

cheers,

Ron

PS: I didn't receive any communication from Ted either.
But if anyone wants their account deleted or put under moderation, just drop me a line. We're always happy to help.

oh... I didn´t follow the manitas de plata thread so carefully, because its a waste of time to talk about somebody who got big with rumbas and 13 beat bulerias...

Ted whatever happened.. stay cool. Its not worth to have stress because of any bad word thrown here.. This here is our flamenco-regulars' table and it would be so boring without some trash talking.. Just think about were were out in a bar half drunken talking about football..... Yes,.. we all know it better than a well paid national team manager..

Ted should be proud of himself - so much attention in no time with no effort.

It's a very common Scottish expression...to take a Hairy Canary or to take a Hairy Fit..meaning to go nuts with rage.
I don't think it's used in England much, but I believe in Canada, Australia and the States they use it.

cheers,

Ron

RE: Delete me!!!! (in reply to el ted

Oh by the way guys, he is talking about me.

First he decided to post very negative comments on all of my youtube vids (which he later deleted).

Then he became further upset when I uploaded my "easy bulerias falsetas", even sending me an email saying "who the **** do you think you are".

The final straw I believe was my post about one chord progression for accompanying Solea ( on which Anders rightly commented that there are hundreds of ways to do it..I was just trying to get the guy started with something).

My purpose on this forum or on the web in general has never been to tell people "this is the way to do it" or claim to be a master of Flamenco guitar, because that would be rediculous especially compared to you all.
I have only tried to share what little knowledge I have with other people and put my efforts out there for people to see.

Oh and for the record I have studied Flamenco in Spain.

I cannot guess at exactly where el ted's anger stems from but I can only imagine it has something to do with a very cynical world view and/or some personal hatred of young American males

... and you have done that quite well, Deteresa. Please carry on, regardless.

Incidentally, which "americans" kow-it-all, those imported from Europe, South America or from the Far East?

just to say, that of course Anders is right, and the chord sequence for letra you posted looks to me like a typical basic letra chord sequence you can use to play for a dance class, i can't see any problem with it, good for you for sharing it.

He has to be talking about "Native Americans; the American Indian". He can't be taliking about me...my mothers Italian and my father was Irish.

I havn't meet any American Indians into Flamenco!

I still dont understand anything or see any conection. Your upload was a very nice laid back personal bulerias upload and absolutely not a pretencious one. On the contrary. (are you going to do a slower version. I´d like to learn )

Well, I think Ron is right, Its just one of these things that happens. Come back Ted, when you have let the anger out. You are very welcome.

Yeah, and I have seen several of el ted's uploads and they are far from being virtuoso flamenco pieces. I have always thought he did not take himself too seriously and I enjoyed the obvious fun he had playing, which came through clearly on the videos. He was inspiring to watch in his own way. I think he has an Anders guitar too, which I like.
