In the San Francisco Bay Area, people flood in from all around the US with dreams of sunny California and then complain about the heat. Of course the Coast Natives often feel like though we don't really know who these people are and there are sure a lot of them, we are fighting for right to call ourselves a tribe. And it always seems like we are out numbered, and forgotten, but we call our home LA LA LAND because the outsiders seem to have a preconcieved notion of the Caloforinan way of life, and they are always redefining what it is to be Californian. And none of the Natives live in any way, what the outsiders depict. There are many Cultural influences here and we put up with it, knowing full well that our own cultural heritage has been lost, and no one seems to belive us when we do start to talk about it, so the Coast Natives throw up our arms and say, 'Oh well.....' I guess it's better not to think about things like this but there is real fear and loathing around here and we are not to blame. We just call it like we see it and expect nothing in return, except that life here in the USA is not for the Native People. We have no where go and if we did, you know, we'd go there in a hurry! I was going to say, don't ask, but then I just had to open my big mouth and type it and click ok. Never mind! I'm not here and I doubt I ever will be.... We of course bear many secrets in our long unspoken history and native culture and heritage. So don't ask!!!
