Need to Make New Nut. Help Please!

I need to make a new nut because the old one is too low and causes extreme buzzing in the low E string. The other strings are fine. But the low E buzzes a lot in the open position. Also, the string spacing is off.

How do I go about making a new nut? I dont have any files to make the slots if I start with a nut blank.

I was thinking about this. But it says slots need final finishing and I'm afraid it might be radiused as well.

Are there any other pre-slotted nuts out there? Should I just take it to a luthier?

Follow the standard way and put paper under the nut.

agree'd just stick something underneath the nut to raise it up a bit until your happy with it

A good and relatively easy thing to do is to glue a piece of wood veneer (0,5 or 0,6mm) underneath the nut bone and then sand the the bottom so that the the veneer is thicker at the 6th string than at the 1st string.

thanks for the replies!

i think i'll go ahead and just stick something underneath it for now. the wood idea seems sturdier. the string spacing will still be weird but i guess that can wait.

there's also the golpeador that i want to to redo because it's too long and looks weird.

and the saddle that is too loose. i hope no harm can be done to the bridge with a loose saddle.
