hey ron, i agree in fact straight down to the driving licence and the rock background, when i played a lot of classical i was always attracted the the spanish impresionistic works , rodrigo, turina et al, and with Rock wheni first begun i remeber here when a rock/metal group would use the Phrgyian dominant mode (Thats as flamenco as !!! i appreciate the advice the difference between this and driving is Flamenco is so great to me just for the love and passion of it , not to be the best or something. I listened to Florians uploads for John , i noticed something , i can technically play alot of what was played, yet, muscially i have got the rhythmic Legs to swing on!! (stand on ) , so im going to put a way my serranito falsetas and try to get some duende with your Flamenco master , today i just memorized a brief compas for bulerias , the excitment when the compas swings , is amazing , i suppose from a classical backround we tend to dig deep into the sonority , as an off thing i remeber many people saying John Williams has little soul on his early recordings , i feel that he plays very strict in time, later he bends the time more, i was watching a video of him and Paco pena playing sevilla by albeniz, i am going to work on this essential musical aspect ... sorry to ramble

lol you re funny you remind me of this english student i have...the second i make him do a chord where the fingers arent imediatly near eachother on the frets or he dosent know the chord his voice goes up a pitch in an english accent " - Ouch IT HURTS FLORIANNNN " quote:
honestly i find it really darn hard to tell what beat im on when listening to a recording, inner pulse is like where out the window well a metronome wont fix that, theres no point playing straight if you dont know where you are..u have to find a way to learn ....sorround yourslef with nonstop flamenco as much as you can, in a car , work etc. whenever possible Rons flamenco metronome is good for learning the counts cause as well as the accents it displays the count each beat falls on dont skip between palos, do one at the time and stick with it, focus on it, read on it make sure you know the accents...work on a palo a month, listen to everything in that palo, practice palmas to it, try to count out loud with it..dont get up until you understand it ...soon enough the compas light will go on its not a matter of you not beeing able to do it, its a matter of you not having paid enough attention to it perhaps or havent done it enough...everyone can i hate maths too...and i am pretty sure that the gipsyes that came up with this werent inventing bulerias between solving equations

my compas really sucks,.... cant seem to motivate my self to play with the metronome, im always playing scales and stuff, you play scales, but not with a metronome? try playing your scales to the compas tracks as suggested, you will probably have to work out ways to fit them into compas, and you will learn a lot by doing it. think of them as "falsetas" and try to include remates etc. ie. por solea, scale from 1-10 and remate 10,11,12, play around with things, be creative that way you can practise your scales, technique, and compas, all at the same time. when you make mistakes, keep going, and improvise your way out of it somehow....
