Compas

I found this on Youtube.
Looks like a pro set up for TV or something then the guitarist starts playing some Paco Serrano falsetas and the compas starts to wonder off.
Strange.

RE: Compas (in reply to Jim Opfer

I think the guy is brilliant although he is young and seemed a little nervous and shaky in the left hand. Should have at least capo'd to the first fret. Regarding compas, obviously it was not metronomicly precise, but I wouldn't say that he broke compas. He stretches and plays with the compas just shy of too much imo, but he pulled it off.
I love his feel, and his sound.

RE: Compas (in reply to Jim Opfer

I think he was nervous at the beginning and got better and better the longer he played.
Yes, there were some compas issues.
He avoided to play picado i think, maybe his picado is not so good (3:11 - 3:15)

His sound was good.
Aire and feeling was good.
I would say , he is an intermediate player just like many others here in the foro - with potential to be a pro with some hard work.
So, good job.

Damn nervousity I played a similar solo, with comparable falsetas, and when i watched the video of it i noticed that i changed the compas also a bit too much, or too inconsistently.

RE: Compas (in reply to Jim Opfer

I should clarify that I wasn't critisizing his playing.
It was just that the whole studio scene with the old fellas sitting there leaning towards the guitarist with a crittical ear, and the singer etc, made me imagine I was going to hear a professional performance and it was strange to see that it was not. Might have been some sort of tallent show in Spain, but I don't know. Just an odd video.

Yes I think it was his first time performing on TV. The singer with him on the other videos is about at the same level as him, but he is a good solid accompanist for cante which for me earns him a lot of respect. He's a 23 year old from Jaén, I think the TV show was some local thing out of Jaén, for highlighting local talent. Anyway there was something about the guy's playing that I really like, not sure exactly why
Now I'm gonna try that vaseline on the guitar for the right hand fingers thing...I think Paco does it too.
