OK. But I thought they were 4 Xs, not 3. Is 3 Xs the cheap variety?

I have been entertaining the same question for the last few days, noticing as one must, his uncustomarily protracted absence, but did not want to sound too motherly in expressing my concern.

Perhpas we should send him a PM or an e-mail, to check on him. But I am sure is practicing for some serious event -or in anticipation of the duel he was slapped to accept, in the advanced challenge?

If he's not practicing 16 hours a day for the Alegrias/Challenge, then he is
going to be in a rather large world of hurtin'.

He talked a very big and cocky game for this challenge.

If he tries to dodge it, he will never ever live it down.

So yeah, he MUST certainly be practicing day and night.

Sounds like your progress sans pick is going well...........Flo won't dodge it, IMO, but he's in deep water.

Well,.. whoever dodge or fake the challenge is a pussy and will get a new description above his lemons instead of fellow or whatever. It will be "cowardly pussy".

I´m 100% sure nobody who signed up is such a person. The names I read are all good guys. Hmm... But I must be serious. Florian asked a weired question about a program to correct the harmony of a singers voice. I hope he doesnt plan any monkey buisness.
But no.. I think Florian is a good guy. He will respect the rules. I´m sure! I mean,.. the prices cost a lot of money and fakeing the challenge would be... criminal. Thats a serious thing.

I hope he doesn´t do anything like this person below in his free time..

White shoes, white trousers => Florian
White shoes, black trousers => Michael Jackson

Its the small things that reveal people.

I dont think Flo has the nerve to try that. He must realize there are too many trained ears on this board to try to pass off a tampered recording.

If i think there's something funny going on, i will throw any suspect recordings
into my wav editor, and i will be able to tell if they've been "Melodyned" or sped up with software.

RE: Where's Flo? (in reply to Doitsujin

Ouch!

That kangaroo looks ready to deliver the "coup de grace" where they jump up in the air and kick you as hard as they can with with their hind legs.

Would put any guy off sex for six months at the least!

Anyway, this "faking it" story put me in mind of an incident on the Flamenco-Teacher forum many years ago.

This guy posted something which said " Is it possible to play Flamenco with a pick?"

He was absolutely laughed at and told it was not possible in any way.

He then uploaded something (A Sabicas Soleares if I remember right, with tremolo etc) and said, "I'm playing this with a pick."

"No Way!", was the response, "That's BRILLIANT stuff. There is no way you could ever do that with a pick!....Prove it....Show us the video!"

He didn't have a video, but uploaded some more mp3s with Tomatito stuff that he played, including the Bulerias from the "Encuentro" series.

"That's ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT playing!", they said. " The only way that could be done is that the mp3 has been edited or tampered with in some way....for there is no way you can play that well... ESPECIALLY with a pick!"

So the guy eventually uploaded a video of him playing.

The response was...

"You're a FAKE, man.....Your playing STINKS.....It sounds nothing like Flamenco....to play Flamenco, you've got to play it in the Traditional way with fingers or it's NOT Flamenco!!......You're a CHEAT....your playing is totally CRAP and RUBBISH!"

Aren't people funny?

cheers,

Ron

Don´t let us fall back in any bad discussions about that sensitive theme.

I never understood the discussions..

I must apologize for my comment about Florian and the question to this program. I dont want to put Florian in a corner. Hes for sure a serious good guy which I respect. Its stupid of me to mention such a dumb thought. So, sorry for that.

Not just the nerve - he wouldn't have such a lack of honour. What would be the point of winning by deceit. It wouldn't interest Florian. Or any of us!

Funny story Ron! Yes it's strange the way people opinions are swayed by what they think ought to be the "truth", instead of just using their ears.

RE: Where's Flo? (in reply to Ailsa

thank you for worring, i am very humbled.. i am fine

i disaapeared because i have changed internet connection ....i now got wireless (jasons tread inspired me lol)..so i didnt have internet for 2 weeks ....but on the bright side now i am faster..and wireles !!

quote:

But I must be serious. Florian asked a weired question about a program to correct the harmony of a singers voice. I hope he doesnt plan any monkey buisness.

yes cause if someone wants to cheat on a video they have to disconect from the internet lol...couldnt posibly stay conected to do that..
i asked for a software that corrects voice pitch ( for voice) for the dvd of the concerts wich i have been editing ....didnt you notice about 5 videos from the concert i posted last month ? ..they tricky buggers..i did most of it..got 2 more tracks to do and wanna redo tangos...you think it looks good on your pc than you make on dvd to look at it on your tv..and notice ..grains..noize etc..i am starting to get really fustrated with it...but atleast i am almost finished

no offence taken man

well i only practiced for that challenge for 2 days so far..the day after i made those challenges lol i got the video footage from the show from the guy whos had it for 7 months..i have been obsesing over that, editing..mesing around with effects ( takes a long long time to reneder videos) ..trying to make it look as good as i can to pick up some festival work with it..

so the challenges took a backstep

also had to prepare a whole repertoir for a new regular gig.. but so far i got the intro and first falseta of the advanced challenge...see what happens..

dont hold your breaths ..its too long man.. 1 falseta or 2 is fine but a whole solo i got alot of stuff i need right now

i have to put paying gigs first..

however you never know....i said so much its hard and embarrasing to take it back ..so i dont know i dont know what to say .. ...naughty florian ..i cant help it i am very excited about the dvd and the prospect of making a half decent looking one to use for demo to get work...i need money alot more urgent than flamenco honour atm

ps..whatever happens i will upload the intro and first falseta so that i dont get called a chicken ..i accept that it wont be in the runing..if you all do the whole solo..but i am sorry my priorities changed overnight..

To the amigos that sent me emails and pms and facebook messages..i will replie to everything it will take me a while thow lol..theres like 300 new emails to catch up on..thank you ..

ps..the opening for this place where i will be playing regularely is tonight..if anyone thats been here a while remembers the story i told years ago...

its also the same place where i cursed at some girls in the audience for talking during my intro ...crazy days

sorry for the long post...u must understand...2 weeks with no internet !!

I cannot believe you have the balls to back out of this after all the
sh!t you talked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have absoutely no honor or integrity whatsoever Florian.

I am beyond dissappointed in you. I dont even know what to say.

You are forever marked by this. Congratulations buddy...

Personally, i think we both know, you never stood a chance to even place
anywhere near the top of this challenge. The piece is way out of your league.

Todd I look at it another way. Whether Flo enters or not is irrelevant. What matters is that you will have mastered a difficult piece, only a short while after re-working your technique to play without a pick. How great is that? That will be such a phenomenal achievement. I'm really looking forward to hearing your entry, not just because you are a fine musician but because I know you will have worked hard on your technique.

So does that mean you'll actually be able to watch our youtube uploads now?

nice to be back

i dont know what to tell you...paid work is paid work, i cant put it on a back for my ego, i am not that stupid..it wasent there when i went in..now theres new circumstances..real life is real life

take it eazy ....lol u know i can read straight through your messages lol u always got the same tone when u fishing for reactions..

....you should quit while youre ahead .. take it eazy with the "honour" **** ..work is work

i got a draw full of unpaid bills and debts words like "honour" and "integrity" to you dont carry a whole lot of weight with me atm..

i am not gonna neglect real life oportunities to save face..expecially to you..

i got a gig i need to get ready for on saturday..what would you do ? practice this ? or try to do the things u gonna be doing in the gig to the best of your abilies and practice those

each practice consists of what i do the next gig, if this was a falseta or two or 3 in a typical key i could use with what i am doing for the gig, it would be fine, it would work good for me.. it would be different, i would kill 2 birds with one stone ..id get my work done and do this..it would be practical..

quote:

The piece is way out of your league

well we can still judge that by the litlle of it i upload..i just wont do it all..and am not runing in the competition..or i can but i dont think its fair on those that do the complete piece
...

intro, and the first falseta part should be enough to atealst show that i am not backing out, or is theres a really hard part u say its out of my league i can try that ..but i am not doing the whole piece..just wanna do enough to shut you up

its more in my interest to be well prepared for work coming up ..i cant sacrifice that for internet honour ..again....paid gigs superseed anything we do here

everyone knows that...surely..to claim anything else its absurd

Thanks Florian you arent mad about my comment about the audio manipulation.. Lets forget that. Thanks.

I accept that you put making your life at the first place. I also would do that.
But as the host of this challenge, I dont allow partial played material for judging. The challenge is to play the whole piece. I will ask Ron to replace "fellow" with cowardly pussy" in your case.... sorry.
When I do gigs, I do the material I can already play. I dont do comercials with material I cant play... How do you do? I mean,..everybody has a repertoire which is for gigs. New things shouldt be acomplished before providing it for gigs,..no?

But your audio is very welcome to hear out of competition. So, if you find time, please send as much of the composition as you can play till the deadline to Ailsa or me.

I practice the composition only 2 hours at saturday and thats it. My flatmate is writing his phd-thesis at the moment and I dont want to disturb his concentration with playing my guitar. So, the challenge is quite hard for me. Ok, I also practice the piece before I play for dance every friday. Beside of that I want to win Jasons advanced challenge and also practice for that. 2 month is a very long time... I will be able to play it smoothly till the deadline with around 15mins practice every day. ;.) You could do that as well. Im sure. Just do it.
Maybe you make it till the deadline. I want you to suprise us! You can! Im sure. ;.)

With all due respect for all other participants, Florian’s inability to compete may jeopardize the advertized and anxiously anticipated entertainment. His reasons are formidably impeccable, but I must concede that a bit unfairly and selfishly I hope his pride be inflamed by the (convivial nonetheless) daring affronts he’s received on this thread and decide to “just do it” !!!

i got a good feeling about this thread (....calling Koella....come in Koella....old foro is back....over....)

Flo you got to admit, its gonna look a bit like a backflip if you back out now I understands your reasons though, but im sure there will be more people like todd who will think your a yella' belly Anyway do whatever you have to do, whatever happens im sure this thread is gonna rate higher than the gerry springer show

Well I for one was looking forward to this! For me, it was Edgar, Flo and ToddK - High Noon and all that stuff, waiting for the music to stop before drawing pistols and shooting, like a spaghetti western, say the Good, the Bad and the Ugly (I leave if for you guys to sort out who is who... but they all were pretty cool so don't be offended by that)

I just know it will all work out and we will get uploads from all three... 2 months is a long time still.

well like i said before..i am submiting stuff, i am not backing out..it will be there for it to be judged..i dont wanna comit to the whole thing..

its fine with me if its not going to be in the running, i accept that, i am submiting it to show if i can or cannot do it..and to show that i am not running, so if theres a really hard part let me know wich it is and il add that part to what i have allready intro and first falseta...i might even do more.i dont know

i am trying really hard to do right by both , this and my imediate needs

quote:

When I do gigs, I do the material I can already play. I dont do comercials with material I cant play... How do you do?

well theres always new choreoraphies, old , new ( some we havent done in a while and are blury)..each to suit the event we playing for and the dancers and musiceans we have available..eg at the restaurant i needed 4 guitar solos, one cante acomp, 3 dance acomp, next one will be less guitar solo, more dance....

i also do stuff i can allready play for the most of it but that dosent mean i dont practice it before hand..and i always change litlle bits otherwise it gets boring..and i always try to build on it so it never stays the same..

u know its not like a tape recorder..its always different..dancers are always changing stuff, adding, singers do the same, i do also

quote:

Flo you got to admit, its gonna look a bit like a backflip if you back out now

i dont think so ..i am not just saying i am out and thats it..i am not submiting anything, i am still uploading enough of it to be judged on it

so todk or doit feel free to suggest the hardest 1 or 2 falsetas for me to do to add to what i allready did intro and first falseta..i havent even looked past what i have done so far..

i think i am beeing pretty open under the circumstances

so a intro and 3 falsetas thats plenty , if i am considered or not in the official competition i dont care..i dont mind

if it matters that much i am open to compromise, suggestions ..but i am sorry i cant focus on the whole thing right now..

i think its prety fair..and yeah i might even surrprise you and find the time to do all of it..but i dont wanna comit to all of it..thats all

i know under the circumstances i appear bad atm ...but it just appears that way atm the fat lady will sing on the day..my audio will be there...might not be complete but it will be there..call me a chicken then

Florian and Todd

Guys!!, before this escalates into a battle of words and insults etc,
Can I call for a ceasefire?

@Florian:
I know that a lot of people will be disappointed that you won't be participating in the full Advanced Challenge as set out, however life is life and you have got to put your music career and earning opportunities ahead of any Internet forum stuff.
Making a living comes first.
That's just commonsense.

@Todd:
You have every reason to be annoyed.
I know you did not want to enter this competition in the first place, as you now have less time to practise due to your job and in addition you are in the middle of restructuring your whole technique.
Taking on an advanced piece like this would just interfere with your practise schedule.
However Florian threw down the gauntlet as a personal challenge to you from him in no uncertain terms and sorta forced you into it.

Doit's Challenge is for complete entries at normal speed etc only.
Partial entries are not allowed.

So would you two guys agree to this?.....

You both agree on 2 falsetas from the piece.
You then record the intro + 2 falsetas and send the mp3s to Ailsa for a deadline of a week after the Advanced results are in.

Ailsa uploads them both at the same time as Entry A and Entry B in a separate thread which is also a simple Public Poll in which ALL members can vote.

The Poll will remain open for the next 3 days only.

That way it will not interfere with your time so much and will remove any question of "honour" etc and also satisfy the blood lust of the hungry mob.

Would you both agree to that?

FIRST prize will be 1 Month's free Lessons with Sedlak.
SECOND prize will be 2 Month's free Lessons with Sedlak.

cheers,

Ron
