Cypress

I know the cypress wood for the flamenco guitar is from the Cupressus sempervirens.
Do you know if the wood from Cupressus lusitanica and cupressus macrocarpa are also suitable wood?

C. Macrocarpa (Monterey Cypress) works fine as a substitute for Mediterranean Cypress. I haven't tried the other one although it was originally imported from Portugal and the trees get bigger than Monterey so it seems likely it may also be a good substitute.

Hmmm. Portugal is 70km from me, maybe I should go and have a look.

Hi Anders,

I live in the south of Portugal; you are welcome .
If I can find some of that wood I would send you a sample to see if it is ok for the flamenco guitar.
