Hands is all you need

Time to face it. Us guitar players are dependent - mostly on having hands.

I would be interested on looking how your hands are shaped.
I just like those myths telling that you find all the qualities of a player in his hands, even if that is...well...bullcrap.

Maybe you also find some pictures of the masters' hands

These are my hands some years ago. They still look the same.

I think if you concentrate more on how you or your hands are looking..maybe also while playing, than you wont become as good as you would, if you would concentrate more on playing..
I know some very good players whose hands do big moves, but they are very fast.. Or check out Manolo Sanlucar. His hands look like somebody pumped them up to ballonsize. But he plays like young god..

PS: I hope you dont think about any operations...

I love Manolo's tone!

Segovia wrote whole essays about what kind of hand produces what tone, but what does it help?
Practicing concentrated is a universally useful method!

Yeah, and he also claims that he "rescued the guitar from the noisy hands
of the flamencos".

So i would take his comments with a big grain of salt.

In my opinion, Segovia wasnt that good, and was clearly a mean, close minded
man.
To be even more frank, i think he was an A'hole. :)

No, he was just a world famous Spanish Snob. At least he had the guts to say what he meant. This I like. Then you know what its all about.

I guess that works better when you're famous.

People sure dont like it when i say what i mean, thats for sure.

I keep things short and sweet these days. Not as fun, but it keeps
me from getting banned. :)

i just felled off my chair .. thats an irony if i have ever seen one...

let me do a Ron ..."ehem I really dont think so guys.. really, hes just a professional very high standards, places the same kind demands on himself"

But dont get me wrong if he infact did say those things i agree with your character statement..

Imo its unfair to compair Segovia by todays standards and even if in your mind u arent comparing him to anyone from today in peticular...theres still all those thousands of "todays" guitarists and perfect recordings that you have heard and helped you formulate your opinions of what is good and what isnt..., i guess to truly apreciate Segovia is to live in those days and have heard as much and know as much as anyone else in those days did ....i dont know much about clasical il be the first to admit...but I assume he must have done something right cause everyone knows his name...and he seems to be quite respected.

the only fair way to judge someone from another generation is to have lived in that time and know why it meant that to those people..

comparing Segovia by todays standards is like comparing Pele to Ronaldinio...the game has advanced, the training technology has advanced...the training technique itself has advanced.. the players are more educated, more balanced, more rounded...the defenders more educated.

Yeah yeah yeah we all love this ...as long as its someone else hes beeing honest about and noone is beeing this honest back to us lol

What a wonderfull world it would be if everyone said what they meant.

- "Yes dear...you are a litlle fat ...a litlle ugly too"

- " No its not ok...its pretty small actually..do you have 2 that you could stick in there ? "

- " Yes your breath does stink"

- " Yes i do think you are an as*hole"

- "Sorry.. you my mate, I love you and everything but she didnt wanna dance with you cause she thinks you ugly ..but lucky she dosent know that your stupid too "

- " Yes my ex girlfriend was way way better in bed then you"

- "Its not me its you..i am leaving you cause you arent as good looking as when we meet, u put on weight, the sex has gotten boring..and oh yeah !!...theres this new bird at the office thats much youngher and hotter and shes flirting with me, i wanna try and crazy and dangerous sex in the office .... I hope you appreciate that i could have lied to you "

I know a classical guitar teacher who was really afraid of the nailtone.
He would always tell you that playing with your nails is the "wrong path" because the sound is like darts into your ears.
Don't know if it was the chair I fell off, but once a stundent I know told me about his last lesson, in that the man showed him his without-nails tremolo technique.

He claimed that when you play a tremolo that requires andante, the tromolo notes have to be played just in that tempo and ended up playing "Recuerdos de la Alhambra" so slowly that it wasn't anymore recognizable.
When he noticed that his student didn't recognize the melody he said something like: "So what? Tremolo just means that I have to play three notes here, who cares how I do it"

I suppose he was also against playing nervous as the gypsies

Besides, his appearance reminded me of Segovia somehow

well yeah...from what i understand that they are looking for a different tone in classical..if u into clasical i gues thats not innacurate..i dont know..many here who have done clasical have a better idea on what the ideal tone for clasical would be..

personally just nails alone drive me nuts too...i like equal amount of flesh and nail..or 60% flesh 40% nail

Todd, I think you are doing us a great disservice when you are not putting out what you want to say. I think you only need consider the way you say it. So focus on the delivery - keep things in context of the player and their experience and your knowledge of them. For example, beginners need to be treated with kid gloves!

Given that you have produced some stuff, you have developed a critical ear, it is going to waste if you do not use it.

I suggest if you gave a review with three positives and only one suggestion for improvement (even though there may be more) that would be a good start. If you can't come up with any positives then don't say anything.

If your thoughts are coming from a good place, they will be well received. Now if they come from the dark side, which is very tempting I must say myself, or you are trolling which I have also done, well, then all bets are off! It is our daily struggle with yin and yang etc

I guess if you are posting for "fun", then that may be coming from the dark side. So don't post for "fun" on the video and audio upload section. Cheers!
