I wonder why they have this price. If you arent rich, you are not able to hear all the new upcomming albums of today. So,.. you cant say if its good choose or not (coz you dont know all). There are so many cds which I didnt hear so far... They are lucky. The jury gets all CDs for free? Who votes for the grammy? How does this work?
Sad thing... so much good music, but we can only get a small part of it..

The Grammys are an industry award, the judges are people who work in the music industry. And yes if you wanted your artist to get a Grammy you'd make sure all the judges get a copy.

With flamenco the choice must be limited, say in comparison to Rock or other more popular genres. There are not that many flamenco releases never mind specifically flamenco guitar releases.

For Juan Habichuela this prize is not only in recognition of this album which is great but also of a lifetime's work in flamenco. I dont think anyone could argue with that.

Did you read the newspaper article (I think it was Ideal) after he won?
In an interview he then went on to say that his wish was to return to Granada from Madrid but he didnt even have enough money to rent a small 2 bedroom house in the Albaicin and that this made him sad..and maybe someone could help him.
...whats he talking about? The family are not poor!!

Wow no didn't read that, but he has enough family here living in nice houses who could be give him a room or two, think he may just be making a tongue in cheek/ironic comment about prices in the Albaicin / Sacromonte these days.
