weird

Hello,

After months of not being able to access this site, I'm back again! (formerly known as 'blanca', now using my own name).
But it was very weird, suddenly I couldn't access this site (my favourit one!), though I didn't have any problem with other sites. I asked other people and found out that only people with the same provider couldn't open the site.
For a while I've tried everything, but nothing helped.

Months went by and there was a short relieve because I could acces the '.net'-version.... (it was a véry short relieve ). But when it changed back to .com I had my old problem back!
Recently I changed my internetprovider. Should I mention that it was especially because of the hope of having access to this site again? Or is that too embarrasing? But it helped and I'm very happy!

But isn't it weird? Maybe one of you have heard something like this before or know what could have been the problem. The suffering may be over, but I still don't know what it was and I'm still curious to find out.

Linda Elvira

Welcome back, Linda. I'm not aware of the issue you've described.

Well, a big welcome back Linda (or Blanca).
I dunno either, unless your Internet Provider filtered this site due to too much crypto profanity and sexuality.

Allowing access to such sites could maybe have reduced the Internet Provider's ratings in the estimation of Google, the offending words and phrases being reported back to them by their faithful Bots...(?)

Although I am not I.T trained, I have learned this from an incident with an I.T professional this year....

Anyway, as I said, welcome back!

cheers,

Ron

Thanks for your replies and the welcome back guys! I have months of catching up to do and I'm looking forward to it.

At first I also thought it could have something to do with the filter of the provider, but according to the helpdesk - which I called several times - that wasn't the case, because they had acces to the side. But maybe that's just it , maybe they don't know everything, because everyone with the same provider couldn't acces.

By the way, it's one of the biggest provider in my country, so maybe there are more flamenco-aficionados that don't have acces to the side.

Hi Linda,
I had a similar problem in that I could only access the 'Old Style' foro site after this one went down. I don't know how it got sorted, but I kept trying and one day I got through.
I thought the new 'Old Style' foro site had perhaps hijacked the link to this one in some way.

RE: weird (in reply to Jim Opfer

I recently had to restore my pc to factory settings to get rid of a bug, and when i googled "foro flamenco" to find the foro again, i got the school-foro site at the top of the search page, a load of other stuff, and no sign of the real foro anywhere. When i googled "flamenco forum" i got this foro at the top and a load of other stuff but no sign of the school-foro.... i don't know nothin' 'bout search engines, but it seems weird enough to me.

RE: weird (in reply to Jim Opfer

Hi Jim,
There was no hijacking intended.
When Bob took over the Foro, he wrote new software and registered the site under ForoFlamenco.net.

He then re-directed searches for ForoFlamenco.com to ForoFlamenco.net.

When the dispute about his management style arose, he closed down ForoFlamenco.net and redirected stuff to his other "Old School" site.

In the confusion that arose while Simon got the original site (this one) back up, then folk still were redirected to Bob's "Old School" site.

Just a mix up, that's all.

cheers,

Ron

Hi Jim, I know what you mean, that happened to me also.
But the problem with this foro I had, already started months before the other foroflamenco (and before the old-school-foro).

Mark, I remember that I could google the foro and also found it during my 'problem-time', but still couln't access it. But what you're describing is also very weird...

I'm still wondering what it was, but now I have no problems whatsoever, so I'm happy!!
