Flamenco...the most beautiful sound

Just something for thought...

I'd like to say I'm well-versed with music. I've play classical piano for nearly 17 years. My passion with the piano is in ragtime. I enjoy steel string guitar and I play the bass. As far as listening pleasures go, I love tropical music. Anything latin.

But ever since I got into listening and learning Flamenco it's just encompassed all forms of music for me. There's nothing I'd rather do then hack away at the long learning process with my spanish guitar, and if I don't have my guitar by me then I love listening to Flamenco artists. This music is really it for me.

On that note, who do you most enjoy? I'd like to purchase some songs to listen to. But I'm not familiar with the Flamenco culture enough yet to know what the "popular" artists are.

RE: Flamenco...the most beautiful sound (in reply to Ricardo

there are many good ones..

As Ricardo said Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo, Gerardo Nunez, Manolo Sanlucar, EL Viejin, Nino Josele, Tomatito, Jesus de Rosario, Paco Pena, Moraito, Ricardo Nunes, Sabicas, Juan Carlos Romero, Paco Serrano and many many others but here are some names to check out that cover everything from traditional to modern..

you kind of have to find out what style u identifie with for yourself, but until then i guess its good to educate yourself with some of the usual suspects...do u like it more traditional, more raw..more modern, a combination.., more colorful...etc..its all good

to do this you can check out some of the names listed on flamencoworld.com i think they all have audio samples..

ps. piano is also a beautiful instrument...yes flamenco is like an addictive drug people dont leave it for other things ...majority of the times is always the last stop, people always leave other things for it.

ricardo congratulations on your 3000 nd post !....blabber mouth

Here's a few contemporary singers who I'd consider 'popular'

Estrella Morente
José Mercé
El Capullo
Miguel Poveda
Mayte Martin
Esperanza Fernandez
La Macanita

and of course Camerón.

We just made Pablo Maldonado's first album " Almanjayar" available to listen, to buy and download at cdbaby.
http://cdbaby.com/cd/pbmaldonado

If you like it please leave a nice review :)

You can also hear his " jam de Pablo" a wild bulería with mucho jaleo, one of my favourites ever, on our webpage at www.andalamusica.com
