The Solea and the Solea por Buleria in D# from his first and the Buleria from the second album are my absolute favorite pieces. This video also shows how great he is in combining good guitar playing and good music.. dont know how to put it.. its not focused on technique, but nevertheless it is technically satisfying. A great introduction to modern style, for somebody who is not used to it, IMO.

I’ve got one of his records (the green one), and I like it, though it’s not something I listen to very often. He’s a great player with an interesting style, good taste, the works. But, his playing doesn’t really move me or compel me to listen. When I listen to that record it’s more of an intellectual exercise; it’s always interesting and engaging, but it doesn’t grab me on a gut or heart level (to be clear: I’m referring here strictly to my own subjective experience of listening to his music and don’t mean to suggest that his playing is mechanical or unemotional or anything. It’s just not my thing.). That record is good at creating a certain mood, though. Even the lighter toques like the alegrias have a sort of dark, serious, moodiness to them. I’d be interested to hear more from him as an accompanist.
