Contacts in Cadiz

Hello,

I'm a jazz guitar player (nylon - fingerstyle) from Switzerland and currently on a big travel with my auto-caravan. I'm currently in Cadiz - Spain and I'm looking for contact to musicians or a teacher. Musicians to jam with and / or a teacher to show me some aspects of the Flamenco style in which I'm very interested in. I'm 43 now and I got over 30 years of guitar experience and I'm on my way to integrate more european modes into my style (which is still jazz though). My spanish is very poor yet but I can speak english, german and dutch.

Does someone knows people from or around Cadiz who are interested to meet a jazz guitar? Or does someone know a teacher here? I would be very pleased for any answers.

Here's my website to laugh about
http://www.bebop.ch

TIA

Karlie (Carlito in Spain, this I've already learned )

Hello,

no replies :-(
Seems to be not the Flamenco season now.

So then I have an other question: Where would you go for flamenco now in the Cadiz area if you had a car and time?

Regards
Karlie

Hi Karlie,

in your case I would try to find the locations of the Peñas Flamencas where you can make direct contacts. But don´t expect too much of finding the hammer wether you don´t speak Spanish. By my experience spainards in Andalucía speak a very poor and bad English. Learning flamenco honestly does also mean to learn Spanish.

Ich wünsche Dir viel Glück!

Salu2
Bernd

Try Sean O'Brien from this forum. He lives there and knows a lot of flamencos. You can send an email to him from here:

Good luck.

Hola Carlito

Only just seen your post ( I only log in here from time to time because I am aficionado of cante).

Try Cambalache Jazz Club, Calle José del Toro, in the casco antiguo. Jam sessions Wednesday from 10pm, for students and professors of the Escuela de Jazz and performances Thursdays.

Hi Bernd

Hm, I'm learning Spanish but slowly. The best way is to meet people. But, honestly, I'm not a flamenco guitarist and I dont think I will be one one day. I'm too wasted from jazz music. No, what I'm looking for are some new inputs, atmospheres, modes and technical wise some right hand things to get away from the standard jazz playing. I'm european and there are many things to learn here don't really have to go to south america or NY.

BTW what happen to Johannes forum?
