Duende by Jason Webster (book)

Anyone read this? I just finished it and found it quite interesting. Though, i guess it was more because of the content rather than the writing, which didnt quite appeal to me. Anyway, was a nice insight into the Flamenco culture (assuming it is a correct insight).

Any other opinions?

RE: Duende by Jason Webster (book) (in reply to Brasiliense

Hey yeah I read this some years ago. I saw it on my shelf the other day and thought maybe I'd read it again.
I found it pretty enjoyable but rather romantic on reflection. hanging out with gypsies, having a fling with a beautiful spanish chick, taking a pee next to Paco etc...
Apparently Webster ran into a spot of bother due to some of his stories supposedly being stories of others that he'd heard and stolen. Not sure of the exact details though.

He has other books out too.

Meaning?
Can you provide links to any information about this legal case, or tell us something about it? I can't find anything.

Thanks Simon! The same search only returned this thread for me (and I see from the earlier discussion that other people had a similar problem) but I'm glad that the administrative mojo worked its magic, - that was interesting reading.

The articles really answer a lot of questions (apart from how could Webster do it, and why was it published?). I hadn't heard of the book when I came across it cheap on a discount table sometime last year. Not far in it plainly becomes fantasy, but a kind of morbid fascination kept me reading as I alternated between 'where is he going with this?', 'how gullible does he think we are?', and 'where was the editor?'.
