Guajira Confusion

Hey everyone, Ive been a huge fan of guajira but i just keep getting more and more confused on the compas.
Traditionally i was taught to count it in 12s like alegrias etc but obviously with the guajira feel!
But now i here more more people phrasing it as (1) 2 3 (4) 5 6 (1) (2) (3)

Confused and lost can some one put me on the right track!!!!

gracias amigos..

Kev

You can count it like Alegrias if you want and feel the accents the same, but the main difference is the harmony, the chords move differently. Alegrias you move chords on 3 and or 10, whereas Guajiras the chords change on 12 and 6. Hope that makes sense.
