Hi Jim,
Great find!
Notice how the guitarist doesn't have or show a great deal of technique, but knows the form so well that it's just comfortable and natural?
Basically it's just doodling around in Tarantas key...
But BOY....IT WORKS!!
Beginners etc should really think about this IMO, before taking on more technically complicated stuff with fast picado etc etc.

Nice.
I agree, Ron - it's kind of a relief to hear something straightforward but musical like this. I like players who don't feel the need to go zooming all over the place on rapid fire all the time, but can find the possibilities in relatively simple material.

Correction. He has two cd's out.
One is flamenco with jose ligero and a dancer.
The other is with a jazz quintet.

I love the way Bulerias fragments into particular little fashionable styles, but always remains Bulerias.
Can anyone hear the similarity of style in this one?

sorry i disagree with all of you, i listened to the first half, and i dont think it works, there was places where the cante was asking for sudden changes aND stops and pauses, resolving rasqueado and accents etc.

it was enchanting for the first 2 minutes until i realised that the hole thing had the same feel and same colour all the way trough almost, didnt feel like bulerias, i think the modern thing was overdone and he didnt once resolve the singers verse with a strong rasqueado, i would have liked that, those really nice litlle melodys would have had a better effect if he had done em in smaller dozes in select places.

but there were some nice litlle brakes he did at the end of his falsetas, and i think hes a good guitarist, just didnt get into the way he accompanied the cante, theres some unwritten accompany rules that you dont really notice when they are there and done correctly but when they are not there they really stand out.

at first i tought i was beeing too hard, tought mibe it was just a stylised buleria so i checked out his other videos, same thing, no resolving.

I liked the buleria, and the way he played for it, but then I checked out another vid of him playing for tangos, and I thought it was pretty bad. Really strange. Maybe just an off night-i don't know. The singer sounds really good.

I uploaded a litlle sample of how i like to hear and aim to accompany buleria, its nothing super grouvy but litlle difference on accents here and there make buleria what it is, listen to how the guitar resolves and follows the energy of the singer.

and you automaticly hear ' OLEE in the right spot even tho its not on the recording, if you listened to enough flamenco its in your head.

ps. i joyned this thread cause i am interested in the discussion, is a subject that interests me i am not saying " I know and you dont" I wish i could have found a way of disagreeing without saying i disagree, sounds so harsh lol feel free to discuss your opinions too, like i said its a subject which intrests me and its a nice change from, what nail glue, what strings, what guitar have you got.

Not sure why though, because this normal bulerias you uploaded. Of course that is accompanied different than a children's lullaby!!!!

The lole/manuel tune was supposed to be soft and delicate as it was, it is not a bulerias cante. It is a lullaby set to a soft, sad, compas backing.

fair enough, but then i cheked out his other vides, and he accompanies everything else :another bulerias and tangos in the same manner.
