Why doesn't Paco play for female dan...1 votes
Hi guys

It struck me recently that i have never seen Paco de Lucia accompany a female dancer. Even on the old vids back from 60s / 70s. Occassionally a male dancer, never a female though. Any theories anyone?

I remember one review of a PDL concert that said Paco eschewed the 'easy delights' or 'obvious charms' or something similar of a female dancer. Do you think this is a deliberate thing?

Same when I saw Vicente.

Seems to be only the more traditional style players eg Paco Pena etc. Guess that makes sense, as some of the more new style stuff must be quite difficult for even the best bailaora to dance to.

By the way I had my first dance lesson last night and i can assure you that as levels of difficulty go it is defintely up there with the guitar!!!

The ARCHIVOS vid with camaron on the cover has old Paco footage. He accompanies a chick por Siguiriyas and then a whole bunch of dancers por bulerias, guys and girls. He was about 17 in the footage.
