Hi miguel, Yes it is all confusing, even for us. Holland are in fact only two provinces, not the whole country. In history The netherlands where ocupied by a lot of countries, (Roman, french, spanich, German) and split up and gained land and visa versa. ( Now it sounds like a big country, but it is very small) So, now you know why we are a bit strainge, wouldn,t you be? ofcourse I know you joked around with Koella, just wanted to participate a little. B.T.W. If you ever fisit Holland let me know, we take you to dinner! Peter

The very first time I went to Holland, was with an American guy I met in Spain. We'd got rides from Spain (standing outside the American Express offices and waiting to see who was going where, and sharing with the petrol) France was a nono for me frankly...didn't like it. Belgium, I had been to before, but really after the Spain experience, it left me a bit cold. We arrived in Amsterdam around 6 in the morning and I was instantly taken how pretty the town was, with the tramcars and bicycles and canals. We found some digs, in the skinniest house I've ever been in. All I remember is this stairway going up and up.. In the afternoon, I was walking around with my guitar case and these guys came up to us and asked if I played any. We went to a bar and I got the guitar out and played a couple of toque libre things and a Solea. He said "Hey Man..you've got to come to our club!" and wrote down the address on a napkin. It said "The Christian Youth Fellowship" etc etc... I thought...Hmmm.. this isn't exactly my scene here... However we had shook on it, and I'd promised I'd come, so (I never let folk down) I said to my friend that we'd go along for a half hour and then politely make our exit... Anyway it started at 7.00pm and we finally found the place about 7.30pm. Dreading the experience, I went in... Well... You could have cut the atmosphere with a knife.. There was so much cannabis smoke in the air that you got high by simply breathing.. I played some stuff, which seemed to go down well, intersperced by various whiskies and brandies and beers that were placed in front of me after each number and the occassional spliff passed to me. We staggered out at about 10.30pm with our heads spinning. I remember thinking to myself as I crept unsteadily along the street... If this is what the Christian Youth Club is like... What must the really "raunchy" places be like?? Just an anecdote though. Holland is a fine place!! cheers Ron
