Pain in the butt!

So I've heard people talk about pains in different places as a result of so much time in one position...but my biggest problem is the pain in my right "cheek"! its my right one that hurts because my right leg is crossed over. Usually after two hours of playing I have to sit on a pillow just to be able to bear the pain.

Is this normal when starting out? Will it go away? Have you guys gone thru this?

No.

Masajea tu nalga derecha y usa tu izquierda. O talvez usa una silla especial?

Pain is your body's way of telling you that something is wrong. I think most people will agree, you shouldn't approach this with a "no pain - no gain" attitude. I don't think the pain will go away, infact it may get worse. There is a big nerve that runs in that area known as the sciatic nerve. If you're putting enough stress in that area to cause pain, it's plausible that the sciatic is exposed to similar tension. Be careful, you do not want to irritate this nerve.

Hehe a bit funny title, but I do see the seriousness. I had it too. It after playing often enough it just goes away. But you should do yourself a favor and stand up from time to time, to ensure blood circulation.

Victor, is it pain you are having, or numbness?

Its like a combination of pain and numbness...it feels like I´m sitting directly on my but bone! But at the same time its just like when you´ve been sitting on bleachers for too long when your watching a game.

Seriously, did you not try sitting on a really soft pillow while practicing?

Of course...but pillows go flat after a while. At least mine do. The problem is that sitting for long periods of time in a chair in one position is something new for me. Not to mention that Im a huge sloucher, which you cant do if your playing guitar.
