Nuestro Flamenco- Hamburger Hands, h...

This week, get your Hyper-Modern on, solo guitar in weird keys that sounds like Keola Beamer on LSD and crystal meth at the same time.

One piece of lovely "flamenco light" that would be suitable for getting your honey ready to ' get busy'. However I still recommend Barry White for gettn' busy.

And if you must, you can skip to the last 15 minutes of the hour and hear Antonio Moya accompany some old regular por derecho singers. Some dudes from Utrera sure to put a smile an old farts face.

So get busy.

Really enjoyed that Stephen (even though my girl is far away) - so much so that I hit replay as soon as it had finished. Thanks for sharing.

I listed to the program twice, I subscribe to this podcast in iTunes.

BTW the show on Juan Habichuela got the highest ratings.

Amos Lora plays well, that's for sure, but at times I ask 'Where's the beef?' Alegrias is always up for grabs to make it pretty because that gets you work from dancers who want a symphonic super duper major key exploration of chords, but I like Chano Lobato better.

But when you do the same thing to Siguiriya and make it florid and pretty...hmmmm no. Just no. Siguiriya should never be rigged so it fits on a smooth jazz canned FM radio format. Just no.

I put in the Old Fart Trigger Warning to move past the candy and into the Moya and Gaspar de Utrera- I don't want any complaining from either camp.

Lora is not that rhythmically interesting compared to the older innovating players, but I'll listen again for sure. His Solea was interesting. He should just go into an abandoned parking garage with a four track and a six pack get loaded and play like hell. Then release that. Otherwise.........ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I fall asleep as a result of digital perfection boredom.

Putting the Guiri in Si'guiri'ya

Well. on his own website he introduces himself as a "flamenco jazz" guitarist, which makes sense. This would also explain why most of his innovation is harmonic/melodic and not rhythmic.
It'll definitely be interesting to see where he ends up. He's not even old enough to legally drink, and once he gets a taste of that kind of inspiration he just might go full-old-school

Oh, so you're dressing me down for picking on a little kid? How dare you! I have my rights and a copy of the Constitution of Flamenco Curmudgeons right here! Have you ever read it, sir? You can borrow my copy.

You kidding, in my school years I was the pale skinny nerd. Any of these buff jock types need to be taken down a notch!
I'm just saying this kid needs to get his heart broken a few times and drink it off and then his music just might sound like Nino Ricardo!
