All the Fandangos - naturales y pers...

Really enjoying the Solea thread Estebana started. So lets do the same for Natural and personal Fandangos. I´ll try and get some information on the creators together with audio and letra.

Personal or natural Fandangos are a free form wich means that there is no compas, though there is sort of an internal rythm(3/4) but there are no palmas. Tipically they consist of 6 lines(some exeptions) in a verse, each line has 8 syllables.

Entré - en - un - jar-dín - por - flo-res
y - cin-co - ca-pu-llos - cor-té
Entré- en- un- jar-dín- por flo-res
e-ran - los - cin-co - sen-tíos
que- yo - pu-se - en - tu - que-ré,
los - mis-mos - que - tu - has - per-dío.

Francisco Gabriel Díaz Fernandez - El Macandé - El loco de los caramelos

He was born in Cádiz - Barrio de la Viña in the year 1897 in a poor gypsy family, in order to survive he sold candy on the streets. In order to sell more candy he sung(pregonar) and wrapped his candy in bullfight pictures. When he got married with a deaf gyspy girl they had three children, all born deaf and dumb. This together with his strange caracter, nomad lifestyle drove him nuts and they locked him away in a mental asylum when he was 38. Many famous singers like Manolo Caracol looked him up to learn from his beautifull singing. He died there 12 years later.
Gabriel Macandé sung very well por Siguiriyas, Tonas, Saetas, Soleares, Fandangos, his pregón de caramelos was also very famous. Chano Lobato has a nice version on Youtube.

Fandangos de Macande are considered very dificult because of his tragic and emotional voice and the savageness. Various versions can be heard by Camaron, Angel de Álora, El Alvarez, El Carbonillero, etc.

I´d Like to upload 2 very nice examples in mp3, but I don´t have a clue how to do it, so if someone can explain me please I´ll be happy to put them here.

In the meantime you´ll have to do with this video and a link(Sorry Simon)
Fandangos de Macandé:

1:15 - 2:14
No soy, ay
Tú anda diciendo que no me quieres
porque no soy formal
y ay cuando pasas por mi vera
yo siento tu corazón de llorar
hasta el verte a mi me da pena

02:30 - 3:30 (not sure about this letra)

Hermano,
El día que murio mi padre
Que nos quedamos huerfanos
La casa donde donde vivia
ya ..??.. tiraron
A la clementia divina

Nice! Thank you Koenie! Very enjoyable and informative. Do malagueñas and granainas fall in the natural fandangos realm??

Alltough they are derivated and direct family of Fandangos they are treated as separate palos. Not to sure about Granainas but the Malagueña family is huge, many different styles!

El Chocolate is definately one of my favorites too.

Anders, I think its better to treat Fandangos de Huelva in a different threat exactly for the reason you mencioned. So many different styles. Cada pueblo tiene su Fandango
no Do you think we should treat them togehter?

I just realize I should have started this thread in audio and video to be able to upload mp3 Im just a bit of a A#$ with this
I think It´s going to be a lot nicer and easier to read and to learn from with short audio examples in stead of video.

Ehh.. Escribano could you please move this thread to the correct seccion?

Just like to treat them as separate palos, I think it´s easier to understant that way. Later we can do another one with Fandangos with compas, Huelva(all variations), Rondeñas, Jaberas, Verdiales etc.

Im continuing this thread in the audio seccion, so I can upload audio files.
