Hermano Sanchis Lopez 1F - where to ...

Just trying to get an idea of the price of these new and where to buy them.

La Sonanta does the blanca for 1895 euros (about £1370):

I am guessing the negra would be a little more, there was a second hand one here for 1600e (£1157)

So are these prices fairly representative? Anyone know other EU dealers?

I wouldn´t pay 1600 € for for a 1F from 2005. You can get the 1F Extra new at 2700 €. In 2005 it did cost 3400 €. I also recommend not to buy a 2005 model. When I ordered mine in 2004 to pick it up at the Frankfurt Musikmesse, tey told me I´ll get the better 2005 version. In 2005 they obvisously had remainders of fretboards from 2004 that all had wrong placed frets because of the fret saw. It was adjusted by a tool maker and never been checked for correctness before. That´s the reason why there are so many guitars before that period around with misplaced frets. And so was mine; wrong intervals & unclean octaves! The rest as slampy craftsmanship as they are famous for.

The biggest flamenco dealer in Europe is here: www.Mundo-Flamenco.com

Wow there I was thinking these guitars had such a good reputation...

So basically you are saying avoid any models from 2005 and earlier?

What's the difference between 1F and IF Extra?

Looking on sound and playability, these guitars are very good for sure. This means to get very much guitar for the money, but you can´t expect a good craftsmanship. E. g. (very) small parts where the finish is not made properly, rest of glue at bars etc.

Regarding to sound character there are 2 schools of construction. One is the Granada school and the other the Madrid school. Granada sound has trebles like a singing and ringing bell that beams directly into the sun while the Madrid school follows strictly the former Conde direction. The HSL guitars follow the Conde sound. Their father had worked for Conde and taught this to his sons who follow this tradition. The Conde character is based on hard trebles. If you don´t like hard trebles, than you won´t be lucky with such a guitar.

The difference between 1F and 1F Extra is better wood (longer naturally dried) and therefore better sound with more sprectrum, punch and substance. Below the series of the "1" models you have to know there is a big difference in sound quality in each series. On my forum a member was looking for a 2F. Another member has offered his guitar at 950 €. The first one meant it was much too expensive. He could get a new one at this rate. He purchased it and was totally dissappointed. I have the other guitar here for checking. Instead of the other one it´s definitely a canon!

I have 2005 1F Arce, it had some issues but interms of sound and playability it's impossible to find better in the price range.

Compared to a 2005 F1 I wouldn´t state it generally. In 2006 came the Camps Primera into the market and has been improved continously. Since about 2 years I see the Primera as an alternative to the HSL 1F. It´s not that brutal but with a lighter crispy sound in the trebles and a wild aggressive bite in the full tone. Not better or worse than the F1 but different, and it´s a few hundred Euros cheaper (available in cypress and rosewood).
