Stephen,

I tried you're suggestion of using Urethane glue on the overlay laminations to prevent cupping and it came out absolutely flat. Thank you!

Today was a lovely day in the shop, I spent the whole time carving braces and puttering around while listening to Mozart violin sonatas. Some days make a person happy to be alive

That must have been quite some time ago. I think all I said was that PU glue stops veneers going wrinkly as there is no water to absorbs like water based glues.

It's to great to hear you are having a good time. I am working hard at the moment trying to save up for some pottering time in the workshop.

Next year I am planning a redesign of everything which will take a hell of a lot of time with very little income at the end of it. Hopefully it will be worth it.

It was a suggestion to use non water based glue (urethane) to prevent cupping or buckling when gluing up overlay stacking. I finally got around to trying it and it worked beautifully. I was hesitant to use it because of the foaming but the little bit of foam that got on the overlay was easily scraped off.

It's probably not going to be a social project. I don't think it will be amazingly interesting to be honest. I have plans to redesign the shape of my guitars which includes mainly making a new mold along with some outside molds for binding gluing and a couple of different inside molds to perform various tasks. So to me that will just look like a right mess thrown in with some meaningless shapes.

John has got me wondering if there is anything else I might know that could be useful though.
