Last night, in Jueves Flamencos, we had El Niño de Sola (best forgotten), then excellent baile from Juan Ogalla, with great cante from Manolo Gago. (The group had just arrived at 3pm from Arizona and due to the time difference thought they had a day of rest ) Then cante magistral from Guardiana, accompanied by Oscar Lagos. Cante reposado, muy bien dicho, lo mejor de la noche. Then David Palomar de Cádiz, who knows that his audience prefers cachondeo and so ha montado a show bastante hortera. But he was accompanied by Rafael Rodrigez "Cabezas" Un verdadero monstruo de acompañar. Pity that Rafael did not acompañar a Guardiana. He even had the best sounding guitar of the night, a peghead Gerundino. This morning, while I was cooking, my wife went to the beach and had the opportunity to felicitar a Guardiana, who was on the beach with his family. A very fine cantaor.
