"Antonio Rey" Exercise fro...

Flamencos use that exercise a lot to practice picado, but I'm pretty sure it's not from Antonio Rey or Nunez. Does anyone know who composed it?`I'm sure it's from a classical composer...
thanks.

Btw. For anyone who don't know, the guitarist is our young foro-maestro Luciano Ghosn

It sounds like a variation of an exercise Nunez demos on his Encuentro DVD.

And then there's this exercise attributed to Antonio Rey (though Luciano's listed in the credits, so perhaps atrafana got it from him).

Definitely from a classical origin. Sounds like Paganini or maybe from
the Guiliani Studies for right hand" or something like that.

But i garantee you there are no classical players that can play it
like Luciano is playing, except maybe Grisha.

A classical player would more likely use free stroke and
finger it MIPIMIMI

Not classical or at least not Romantic era classical.

Baroque in tone, it sounds most like Vivaldi pastiche.

AMIA IAMI would be another rest stroke fingering worth trying.

Great playing from Luciano!

Todd, check out Marco Tamayo. Last time I saw him we had a little jam session. He is scary and would take this exercise to the next level. Romeros would make it look easy as well.

Yeah, i forgot about him, he is probably the fastest classical
guy i've seen besides yourself.

Very clean, and has good power and projection.

That is what is missing in so many classical players.

I have to agree therel. I always wondered why is that with the exception of Angel, Pepe and probably Marco Tamayo. Manuel Barrueco has good power and projection I feel but obviously with a classical tone.

The Romeros are underestimated / little known here.
The craziest picado I have seen from a classical player was from a well-known performer with a french name, which escapes me right now. ( Have always been weak with recalling artist names or book titles. And meanwhile there are so many advanced classical guitarists around that you just lose oversight.)

Notwithstanding the unique merits of flamenco playing; don´t underestimate the skills among todays classical players.

what about kazhuito yamashita?

although I wouldn't consider him playing La boda de luis alonso to be his most musical moment, it definitely shows volume projection and speed

Can´t see the vid, but Yamashita has a solid touch and some BPM indeed.
Ana Vidovic isn´t a slouch at speed picado either.
( Besides: I send her mail recently, pointing out finest tuner gear and foro´s builder, but might not have been appreciated / got no feedback.)
