MUSICAL DIVERSITY...

I just realised...

Today I listened to a thrash metal album by Pantera, then moved on to "Guitar & Song" by Paco & Fosforito, then finished off with Janine Jansen's version of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons". All in the space of just a few hours!

IS THIS NORMAL???!!!

Diverse listening habits or what!

Hmmm... it would be interesting to hear what the professional Flamenco guitarists actually listen to when they're at home. Is it 100% Flamenco or do they find inspiration in other places?

Maybe Paco listens to Classical music occasionally?
Or maybe Tomatito likes Rock music?
who knows?!!

I was reading an article by a professional electric guitarist recently, and he claimed that when he's not performing he virtually NEVER listens to any guitar-based music.

I'm not sure I could do that!

as a former jazznerd i can tell you that i don´t listen to as much guitarmusic either
If you wanna get the hang of jazz listen to the hornplayers and piano players.

Now i wanna tell you something odd about me.
Guitar music in general realy puts me to sleep. I find it realy boring. Flamencoguitar is punky and guttsy enough to keep me up all night!!

Tomatito says the he likes George Benson.Well...I dont know about him, now he also
sings with voice...dont really like it.Also dont really enjoy jingle bells with violins
,diana krall has a new christmas cd.Sure it's ok for fun...Wait ...I know what I like
Lisa Ekdahl...but would like more solos in her albums. The lyrics are super...I know
they are jazz standards ,but cool lyrics.

For example from one of my favourites Tea for two:

Day will break and I will awake
and I start to bake
sugar cake for you to take
for all the boys to see.

They are very naive lyrics ,but she has the voice to sing this ...
..if a more mature voice would sing this, probably would not like it.
I never listen to lyrics except for these kind of albums.
Anyway,Henrik I want a super signed
super personalized autograph when u see her.

Henrik,
Jazz + Guitars = Django Reinhardt!!! You should check out some of his work if you haven't already. Or The Rosenberg Trio or Birelli Lagrene, or Debarre & Beier. I have to admit that most of their best songs are in simple 4/4 time rhythm, but its good stuff... Gypsy Jazz I think they call it.

Interesting to hear about Tomatito liking George Benson though!

I already mentioned this, but I met George Benson at ones of my gigs this year (wow, I feel cool just saying that). Anyway, he jammed and played a song on my guitar...he's daaaaamn good. He heard me play a little bulerias and was like, what was that chord, what was that chord? I showed it to him and he started laughing and telling everyone that he got a guitar lesson from me. I asked him if Tomatito didn't show it to him when they jammed and he said he didn't. Also, he asked me if I liked "Mundo" and the other songs when he jammed with Tomatito.
